I work long hours to get some accurate prediction of the odds but,I do not understand why when I am placing money in the market (horses and football) 4-5 ticks away of the current odds, someone will automatically enter the market with £1000 or more 1 tick ahead of me.As soon I cancel my entry he will automatically cancel too. If I buy the current price using the stop and loss he will automatically enter with £ 1000 placing 2-3 consecutive bets to trigger my stop and loss. If I did not use the stop and loss he will automaticly enter the market with £1000 or more 1 tick close to my exit point. I just wanted to know if betfair is involved with that and if "YES" why they are doing it?. meanwhile I am working to find the way around this issue. All comments are welcome.
sry for my english.

yes its very frustrating.
it wont be betfair directly, but i might be someone they are using to seed certain markets.
Why does it matter who it is ?
in my experience all you can do in this situation is be aware of it and react accordingly.

It matter to my strategys who it is. The only way i can go around betfair is to move my strategys IN PLAY only but, if it is private bot I will react accordingly by placing 3 times the ammount of money what the bot is capable to take to be at least 1-2 ticks ahead of it for few seconds.mister man wrote:yes its very frustrating.

Depending on how busy the market is, it can be quite easy to spot and react to individual bets, trigger stop losses etc. It will be a BOT designed to do this which is all part of the game and perfectly legitimate, however I am starting to believe that the Betfair markets are becoming more corrupt.
Most programmers would leave a back door entry to a system they had worked on and I would imagine some ex Betfair programmers have done the same. Try Googling "Betfair fraud".
In the last few weeks I have seen on three seperate occasions the prices on the left of my screen (back) higher then the prices on the right (lay). I am genuinely beginning to wonder how far the Betfair deception goes.

Can't that be a software/hardware malfunction? Are you behind an NVidia GPU?n the last few weeks I have seen on three seperate occasions the prices on the left of my screen (back) higher then the prices on the right (lay).
How large are the stakes you are using when this happens? I'd imagine this can only happen if the stakes you are using are too large to be expected by the market (i.e. in the 1000s).... if you stake 'undercover' then you shouldn't really have any direct trouble like this unless someone is actively targeting your account (not that I want to make you paranoid, this is very unlikely I would have thought.) If this is a repeat occurance that happens every time and you're not using massive stakes then it might be a good idea to do a thorough anti-virus check of your PC, but I think it's far more likely just to be a coincidence. There are bots out there targeting everyone and all sorts of behaviours

The graphics are ATI FirePro e469.
Thing is when it has happened it sent my BOT crazy as well.

ive seen that too, but not for long, see what happens if you one click the odds offered you dont get em.
i have to say in all honesty ive seen a lot more suspicious activity of this nature lately than i used to.
either the bots/players are getting much more sophisticated, or its some questionable activity, or its all in our minds...

My stakes can go from £25 to 5k depending of the market. I run Antivirus twice a day. It`s not a coincidence as It happens everytimes I entry the market with £25 to £500, however I usually trade from 2 hours to 20 minutes prior the event, I have noticed that happens with less frequency when I was forced to trade 5 minutes prior the race. What annoys me more is that If I placed a lay bet at 3.45 but, the market is on 3.6 instantly £1000 appear on 3.5, if I cancel, he instantly cancel too..I will find the explanation soon or later and change my strategys accordingly...hgodden wrote:How large are the stakes you are using when this happens? Sounds like a bot to me too.. any bot, mine included, will try and get in ahead of the market if it thinks there is value there so as soon as you put a bet on it'll go 1-2 ticks lower if there is still value.
To those who mentioned some more 'iffy' market actions recently, mine also seems to have started losing money in the last 10 days also.. I'm just puttig it down to bad luck but beginning to question my own model if there is something more sophisticated or underhand out there...

If you are putting £5K in at a time (especially on small horse racing markets) you will affect the WOM and attract the BOTs..
Just watch what happens when the mad bomber throws in £20K at a time..they often immediately trigger the BOT's

Sounds like bots to me - you see that kind of stuff all the time most notably in weak markets - it can be used to your advantage as well at times.

i agree, only tonight i managed to get matched in a low liquidity market at 10.00 and layed at 4.1 within 1 or 2 minsSounds like bots to me - you see that kind of stuff all the time most notably in weak markets - it can be used to your advantage as well at times.
in the main though they frustrate rather than reward..
Caer Myrddin,I use nvidia - is there some history of problems with this? I sometimes get the situation where the yellow "last traded Price" keeps flashing even when the price has moved well away from the price that is flashing - could that be related to the nvidia issue?
