It's an enormous cock-up

I'm not convinced a bot would place an incorrect bet for £38500. If somebody has an automated trading style with stakes like that, they are welcome to it

I think this may have been the old chestnut of clock beating. Unfortunately, in their rush to get their bet on they have stuffed up & backed the wrong team

Something similar happened to me last year in the IPL when a batsman taking the last bowl hit a good shot but it went high up in the sky and if its get caught then batting team lose and if it doesn't then bowling team lose. The price for batting team was c. 1.60 so I put, what seemed then, a large back order at 1.50 when the ball was still in the air. It got matched as well and I had a schadenfreud smile thinking that some poeple are just so silly leaving their orders to elements.

After the initial euphoria subsided that I realised I backed the wrong team and I managed to loose the entire order of, wait for it, £250 which doesn't even seem like a metaphorical peanut compared to this.

If your staking that heavily in play then at least you should know which team is which. Whoever done this has either got more money than sense or is completly carless and wreckless. This is a prime example of greed and stupidity at work. The stomach churns to think about it.

Hi C,

this reminds me of an Amarillo Slim poker adage which is quoted on the film "Rounders".

You can fleece a sheep many times but shear him only once (it doesn't make that much sense to somebody who, in his youth, knew loads of Dales sheep farmers but, I take his point). I'd hate to think that this person felt "sheared" and never returned,

cheers, P
