This is my first month using Betangel an I'm already a big fan! After fumbling around, I have found my strategy and made a fine profit.
My question is how do I spot the soccer markets that suspends after kickoff? Is it depended on the total of money placed?
I'm dutching the correct score market - friday evening I was dutching/trading the Preston-Hull game. But saturday I placed my bets before game time at the Ipswich-Barnsley game and after kickoff the market was suspended during the whole game. I couldn't trade my position and lost a lot of money.
Both games were from the English Championship but I didn't had the same options during gametime.
How do I spot these from each others?
I'm from Denmark in case my English isn't that good
In answer to your question. The best way to find out is to log into Betfair and find the market you are betting on. On the right hand side of the page there are 4 tabs, the 3rd one says "Rules". Within the text it will tell you if the market is going In Play. Some of the lesser markets are what is called "unmanaged", this means they are turned In Play, but not suspended after a goal or sending off.
The difference there is one market went in play, the other didn't. This information is available on the BetFair website. I'm sure its in BA to somewhere, but I couldn't find it in the two second look I just had.
There is usually a good number of football matches that go in play per day. Be aware that there is an 8 second delay from you making an order to bet reaching the market during in-play football markets.
Great, thanks to the both of you for your answers. I'll be more carefull next time and check the information at Betfair. I hoped that BA could show the details.
The most convenient method for me is to go to Betfair site, and then under Football - Coupons select "In-play" coupon for specific day; for example, for Saturday, you have "Saturday coupon", that contains ALL matches, "Saturday In-play coupon", that obviously contains only matches which will be offered in=play, and "Saturday Unmanaged In-play", which has only "Unmanaged Match Odds" market in-play, while other markets don't go in-play.
I know that they had these lists on the forums, too, for the whole week in advance; but it was unreliable - they announce it in Monday for the whole week ahead, and I was very often finding that Friday, Saturday and Sunday coupons were completely wrong - some matches announced to go in-play would be withdrawn from in-play, and some others added, so I usually look in-play coupon only one day in advance.
Bear in mind, though, that their rules say something along the lines "If we lose data feed, we will be unable to manage match in-play", so you can sometimes find some matches suspended in the midst of the action, sometimes for short period of time, but sometimes by the end of the match, and only thing Betfair will do about that accident is apology on their forums. If that happens during firts half, they usually re-open markets for half time interval, and then suspend them again in second half; it doesn' happen often, usually in less known leagues, but some traders might remember such an accident in the midst of the match Roma vs. Lazio previous seasons, with tens of million EUR in action; so, when managing your stakes, you should have that in mind, as well.
