The problem is, it doesn't take long before that sucks the energy out of his teams, and he ends up falling out with his own players - Pogba being the prime example now

Mourinho won the League Cup and Europa League, but as Roy Keane said on Sunday........that isn't good enough for Man Utd, they expect to be challenging for the Premier League and Champions League, not the second tier events

You can tell your kid to relax. Not a snowball's chance in hell. First thing I did when I saw the news was pop round looking to lay Poch for the job at a short price, but it seems the markets caught on, despite the media and Neville wanting to talk it up.

If Poch had lost patience with Levy and the Spurs project, he would have put himself forward for the Real job. He has too much integrity to leave for another English club right now. His next job (if he continues to succeed) will be Real, PSG or Argentina.

I don't expect them to, but if United had any sense, they'd - maybe - go with Carrick as the permanent choice right now, rather than interim, to steady the ship. For all his faults Mourinho knows (football) people and tactical understanding. The trust he put in Carrick right after his retirement is a bigger stamp of approval than any of the non-football people in charge at the club can give. I say maybe because it would be contingent on checking the mood in the squad. Do they respect Carrick and want to work for him? If that's in the affirmative, he'd be a much better choice than another big "name".

That's a good shout. I like the train of thought, but I do feel that Ferguson's health and his unwillingness to mess with his legacy (assumption on my part) would rule him out, even at that price. Same with Keane as he's just too controversial. Unless there's a feeling among the powers that be at the club, that they need someone to come in and really ruffle some feathers, I cannot see it.

Along your line of thought, I'd more fancy Scholes or Gary Neville instead of Keane (with Neville not even listed as yet). And Redknapp or Hiddink in place of Ferguson. All if you're looking at big outsiders as a punt.

Your thoughts definitely explains why Solskjaer is in as second fav out of left field.

From what I gather Pochettino is definitely the 'longterm' replacement.

If the following statement by Man Utd is to be taken as gospel then I suppose you can rule out a few of the candidates listed. Only 10 games in charge required by a 'caretaker' appointment to settle this market. Very interesting and open market at present.
