Hello all,

New to this, been on youtube and this forum looking for a bit of help.

Anyway....

I wanted to start laying favourites, however, once the race starts then I want to take say a 5% profit. I have noticed usually in a 7 runner race or more that the favourite rarely starts from the front, this means that usually the odds to back him goes slightly out. I am also interested in if the selection I back makes me a 5% profit before the race begins then how would I go about it? What parameters and conditions would I need.

So, off £10, I am looking to only gain 25p, start small then increase profits once I build up a few quid.

How would I go about creating a rules file for this?

Thanks

Karl

The 'offset' or 'offset with greening' can be set as % rather than ticks.

Just might be an idea to have some sort of plan if the horse you have layed steams in and doesn't drift at all.

Yes, this is always an issue.

However I have tried adding this in and it has not worked and I am slightly confused to why.

I have added a rule name and added "place a lay bet" in the rule type

Under the rule trigger times I have put in 1 min before the start time and 20 seconds after the event time has started.

Allow rule to trigger 100 times and wait 5 seconds before rearming.

Have applied to selection "in position 1 (sorted order of favoritism)

I am then unsure to what parameters and conditions I then need, the global settings are also a bit tricky to understand.

Any help would be most welcome

Thanks

If you're trying to reduce a loss on an initial lay bet, you need to create a back bet not another lay?

I think for what you're doing an initial lay bet (with Offset with greening and stop) seems the easiest way to get something working which you can improve when you're more proficient. It attempts to limit both eventualities (profit side and loss side) but do bear in mind that in-play, there's a likelihood your stop loss won't be matched if the market shortens rapidly. That's because the closing back bet which is intended to protect your loss can't be submitted until that lower price has been reached, otherwise it would simply match at the current best price above the one you intend to stop at. If the market falls through your stop price and never rebounds to it, it won't be matched.

btw those bets that aren't working? are you setting them to be kept in-play if you've placed them before the start of the race?

Superb, thanks for the help.

I have been looking at Bet Angel for a few weeks now and wanted to try this out today so bought a one day pass.

I didn't place a bet but did practice, it's been an eye opener.

Starting from the end of next week I have 11 days off, I think the best way of me going forward is by looking at the forum and seeing what else is going on. I have been involved in the betting industry for 22 years however bots are quite new to me.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated today.
