Thanks to your excellent videos, I managed to turn a reasonable profit today - have done in fact over the past 2-3 months. Now if I can just find a fool proof way to stop me going inplay, I'll be a happy bunny!

Peter, seeing as you have a cough, I thought it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on health vs. trading — how it affects your performance.
do you begin by giving things a go if you're unsure or do you have some form of criteria to determine if your 'trade-fit'?

That's something I've been thinking about today. If you desperately need to blow your nose at the crucial time the favourite crashes or drifts it could be detrimental to trading, but generally, barring a very severe cough, cold or headache, it shouldn't really stop you from trading.eightbo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 05, 2019 5:18 pmPeter, seeing as you have a cough, I thought it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on health vs. trading — how it affects your performance.

yeah, I hear you, these things are gradual though, so I wonder where does one draw the line?
(technically I guess it'd be when you're trading with a -ve expectancy?)
I find myself quite tired mid-card some days and past a certain point, I know I'm not fit to trade.
Other times, I'm not so sure and it can get dangerous, but I fear it's not efficient to just stop every time you're unsure.
I've had an idea for now which I'll experiment with (if I can find a suitable test/game) which I'll put below.
Perhaps it's most efficient to just go by feel over time but it'd be interesting to hear how others approach this.
1) identify a test/game which involves cognitive function / focus
2) monitor test score/game performance in relation to trading performance until you're able to determine a sensible cutoff point
3) when you're unsure in future, task test/play game to decide if you're fit to trade
Whether you're trading successfully or not (or made a cock-up) could be factored into the decision.
Last night I was feeling dreadful, cold, sleepy, and in between races I was moving away from my desk and clinging onto the radiator. I certainly wasn't trading efficiently but Randwick is Randwick - as long as I was making profits from each market I had some determination to keep going.
