Profitable trading is only possible over a large number of trades if you can exploit market inefficiencies.
It seems likely that the market will have a pretty good idea of the true win, lose and draw odds of a game of football, given the number of participants. Perhaps this is why you don't get the large swings you see before in horse racing.
This leads me to wonder: is it possible to profit from trading on football if you know absolutely nothing about the sport?
What do you guys think?

Trading blind
Hi Jeff,
I've not got the faith in the football market that you have, I find that its accuracy doesn't "bear up", statistically speaking. It seems to be very emotionally driven to me, possibly because everybody's view is coloured by their own likes and dislikes for individual teams. You can get some real value in football when the markets view differs from the stats, Liverpool v Chelsea being the perfect recent example.
I've no doubt that it's possible to trade football without any knowledge, but that statistical edge is ver attractive to me,
cheers, P

everything is possible ferru. In my experience I have to work many hours b4 each match to get some good guess where the price is heading. Yesterday I started at 7am and finished about midnight even though last match i traded on was around 9pm. Today I wake up about midday I could not open my eyes. On monday I usually sleep 10-12 hours to recover from the weekend. i find swing tradings on football very often. If the market is stable you need to scalp only once to make a reasonable profit. I love football tradings. I started with horses few years ago I have never seen the light, hours and hours of work I have just wasted 1000s of pounds to get nothing until I met a professional football trader which gave me a good insight about football tradings. I may work many hours but If i make 1p i won`t lose it back the next match so easily so It pay off. sry for my english
Hi Giulio
That's interesting.
Do you trade pre-match, in-play, or both?

When I trade on football I dont let my emotions to decide for me. I stick purely with the stats. I calculate the possible odds my self like a bookmaker but, with 100% book or close, I check other bookmakers, I check for injuries etc etc. sometimes I get it wrong, no problem there are 1000s good available markets every week on football.
