I am not happy to write this post, but I do it, to tell you one little thing about Betangel that the company would never tellyou, and which doesn't probably interest you, and certainly not the company at all (smiles).

Since I am blind, and thus using a screen reader, I am of course very interested in "accessible programming", which means that you follow certain rules when programming.
This makes it possible for the screen reader to find out what information to give, and (in speech) how to formulate it.

I have seldom seen such a great example in bad programming, as the last version of Betangel.
For instance, it is now impossible to get information about which market you are selecting, both in file/select market, and it is even worse in the guardian.
The screen reader takes the name of the object which is in focus.
Unfortunately, the programmers of Betangel can't even spell the word "accessability", so the names the objects get is the betfair-id. If you don't know, that is a long ugly number which doesn't say anything about anything ...

Therefore I have decided to quit.
I will be using the soccermystic application, until it gets obsolete, or the programmers destroy that too.

Bye bye folks

Hope you are happy fooling around with your mouse, and keep on support a great product, who have never heard about a keyboard, have never heard of accessability, and anyway don't give a shit about it.
Heaven knows I have told them, and offered them help about accessability, so the product would not get worse for you who are so proud of your ability to read a screen, and get better for those who are forced to use screen readers etc.
They don't mind, they don't care, they just want to earn money.

I have wasted my money, but hopefully I can keep on using the original soccermystic, until i find some better software out on the market.

No matter what you bet (smiles), you can bet I don't recommend Betangel to anyone.
Sadly, since it is a great, if not the best product on the market, but unfortunately only for real people who can see.

Bye bye

May you all be happy.

So Bet angel is unsuitable for you,
well that is unfortunate yes, but i don't see how it's their fault.
I doubt they designed it with blind users in mind.

It's impossible to make anything that is suitable for everyone, there are just to many variables unfortuantly.

With all due respect, you're not going to make friends by starting a thread like that

This is a niche product with a limited membership..It's not a mainstream product like Microsoft Office.

Granted, I'm not fully aware of your story...nor the problems you have had, but by way of comparison; my sister is left handed. If she approached Betangel to completely modify the various screens for left handed users, I dont think they would accomodate her requests either.

Hi

I honestly don't see how the mechanics of a screen reader would even work on the ladder tab with 3 x 20+ bar ladders. I guess its designed to be a visual interface as its the most efficient way to express the sheer amount of data that you may need to use in your decision making process . That's before considering how you would get the chart information relayed to you. Trading often involves sub second decision making.I don't think you could even convey a small subset of the data you would need to make an informed decision via audio in that time.

Whilst I feel for your situation I think if your serious about getting something suitable for your position then you should consider some bespoke software. You mention you have suggested some ideas to Bet Angel. Why not use these as the basis of your own design of trading / betting software. I imagine there must be some level of demand for betting software to assist people with all sorts of impairments. I would be interested to see what kind of demand there is for such software as clearly there appears to be a gap in the market.

Um, it's spelt "accessibility".
