Newcastle 2.30pm didn't green up
I have been testing out an automation rule (mainly using pace) and things have been going great, 24 straight days of profit, but twice, for an unknown reason, a back bet was 'greened' up. Today we put a back bet in the 2.40pm at Newcastle (Enfin Phil), if it triggers a 20% profit or 25% loss, then it greens up, otherwise it automatically closes the trade 15 seconds into race. I didn't see the race, but took a 100% loss on the horse, it actually finished 4th, so didn't fall. What are the reasons this might have happened?

Was the order rejected ?Henry1963 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 3:27 pmI have been testing out an automation rule (mainly using pace) and things have been going great, 24 straight days of profit, but twice, for an unknown reason, a back bet was 'greened' up. did it actually ever go as low as the lay odds (8.80)??.Henry1963 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 3:27 pmI have been testing out an automation rule (mainly using pace) and things have been going great, 24 straight days of profit, but twice, for an unknown reason, a back bet was 'greened' up. to me (on 1st glance) it all looks fine and it could be that the odds never dropped below 11, thus the offset sat there, but was never actioned.
[EDIT] - as suspected above. After a delve into the BF records:

I appreciate what you're saying, but part of our rule is if it hasn't reached our required loss/profit %, then it greens/reds up after 15 seconds into race, whatever the price is. We have had around 40 losing trades, all of these, using exactly the same rule, has greened/red up/down after 15 seconds, showing usually an approx. 25% loss, occasionally more because of the way the horse/price has performed.
So, my question remains, what are the reasons, on this occasion this horse didn't trigger the rule?

Internet connection lost or API issue. What power scheme are you using on the machine ?Henry1963 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 10:22 amI appreciate what you're saying, but part of our rule is if it hasn't reached our required loss/profit %, then it greens/reds up after 15 seconds into race, whatever the price is. As your rule isn't using a stop loss I assume you mean you have a separate greening rule to trigger if you're in a loss?Henry1963 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 10:22 amI appreciate what you're saying, but part of our rule is if it hasn't reached our required loss/profit %, then it greens/reds up after 15 seconds into race, whatever the price is. Can you post some screenshots of how you have that rule set up?
...very wise - which APC model do you have? I'm currently using an APC SUA2200i bought from a guy who sells a few on eBay.
The rules file is fine, only reason for it not to trigger is if the market wasn't refreshed during the 5-sec window it's armed for. As this is your final safety net I'd arm it from 15secs till several mins into the race.
As for why it never triggers as your guardian was refreshing fast enough that only leaves your internet connection and it dropping off for a few seconds at just the wrong time
Do you use wired or Wireless?

This may or may not be relevant.
I used to use WiFi connection all the time until I noticed the following:
If someone rings my house phone then my WiFi dropped connection for an average 4 seconds, even if I didn’t answer the phone. Turned out there was a fault with the router. When I asked the BT engineer about it he said it’s very common but most people don’t notice and/or complain so we don’t proactively do anything about it.
Not saying this is what happened to yourself but always best to use wired connection when trading.

Wifi can often drop off intermittently (which is why I asked) but as the engineer said you never notice in general use until it happens when trading and suddenly prices pause for a second or two or a rule doesn't fire.
But never thought about phones being connected to the router being a possible cause

I don't actually have a house phone anymore, got rid of it. Don't see the point in paying £20 a month line rental for basically nothing when i pay £10 per month for my mobile and i get unlimited texts, 500 mins of calls and 2GB of data. That's enough for me. Plus now i don't have to worry about the phone interfering with the router/broadband.Dallas wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 10:55 amThats useful to knowBetScalper wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 8:34 amThis may or may not be relevant.

The engineer said it's not just confined to the WiFi dropping connection because even the wired connection can drop for milliseconds when there is an incoming call. Nearly all broadband packages supply cheap routers that are fine for most tasks but if you want better connection then you should invest in a serious router and always use a wired connection if money is at stake.
