I though I had things sussed, have slowly built up to backing at £10 in my automation, that should mean an approximate £2.50 max loss, or £2.00 max win or there abouts, so how the hell did it lose £138? Yes, I realise the horse was not looking good and the price dropped, then was layed and ended up winning, but there has to be something wrong with the automation rule, where if nothing had happened I would simply have lost £10. What can be added/changed to safeguard against this? Please help.

Green up rule triggered twice (or you have two green up rules both armed to trigger at the same time) so you ended up with an extra lay bet of £8 at 17s

Dallas, can you check the BAF file, just to see if I do have two green up rules, if I don't.....why would it be triggered twice? My fault? BetAngel's fault? or Betfair's fault?

Yes you have two 'Close trade on selection with greening' rules in that file

1 will trigger after 20 seconds regardless
the other is armed after 15 seconds with a SV condition

But if the one with the stored value condition is satisfied after 20 seconds both will trigger together
(which is what happened as your log shows both triggered 20 seconds after going in-play)

I'd suggest arming the green/red up rule from 26 secs to 35 secs so it can't trigger until the other is disarmed, and I'd set all in-running Greenup rules to trigger at least 3 times with a min 2-second re-arm (3 secs if your greening will require below £2 min stakes)

Your stop activated at In-Play +00:20 (the same second your "Green/Red up" rule is set to fire)

To prevent this in future remove the overlap between the two rules by bringing the end time of "Stop Loss" to 1-2s before the "Green/Red up" rule fires e.g.
Stop Loss rule timing: +00:00:10 to +00:00:23
Green/Red up rule timing: +00:00:25 to +00:00:30

Check the length of the gap against your Guardian refresh interval and how many markets you could be refreshing at once.

Dallas and Eightbo thanks!!

The scary thing is, I think I am now starting to understand, I messed around with the timings of rules, meaning that the green/red up and the stop/loss were basically working independently.

I have found the original automation rule he sent me, can you just double check that it is sound, thanks!!

An expensive lesson, but providing I learn from it, worth it's wait in gold.
