You're like the good fairy to my miserable old sod today!
The missus has got me doing yoga to help with my stress, so I'm trying to be balanced ('scuse the pun) in my outlook.
I'm liking it. 8-) Ommmmmmmm

There's also Transcendental Medititation (very expensive). Or the Buddhist
Mettta Bhavana meditation.Go to your local Buddhist centre. No cult, no threat. Been there and done it. It could work for you.

No I was serious but threw in the saucy angle cos I'm in a good mood. That's a good idea, going somewhere helps. Although I do get delusions about being a cult leader if I go to somewhere like that so mustn't get too deeply involved.

BF are pushing the bourdaries of what's technically and logistically possible, 99.9% of the time we benefit from that. Millions of transactions a second and responses that we measure in milliseconds, anyone who's worked in systems will know that's not too shabby. If there's times we pay the price for that in inconvenience then so be it. I agree it could certainly be better, but I don't think it's worth losing sleep over, and I'm amazed and thankful it's there at all most of the time rather than being too miffed when it isn't.
All very noble of them, but they should refund all the pc I have paid (and others obviously) , because they certainly have not invested it in their crap infrastructure although its been much better in the last few years, its still breaks down far too often, I am not thankful at all.

Formula One teams are doing the same thing. The difference is that an F1 team that uses tried and trusted technology will have a reliable car that finishes races but will never win. I'm beginning to wonder if Betfair is pushing boundaries too hard instead of stepping back and focusing on the reliability of the service.

An F1 team has nothing to lose by sacrificing reliability for performance if it's needed to win. Perhaps Betfair feel they have nothing to lose from their outages, as we're the losers!

If you google "betfair infrastructure" you'll see they've been spending a fortune on it. Massive systems are like ocean liners and turning them around takes time. eg https://www.gigabitmagazine.com/company ... gitisation# and there's others.

Not thankful? You must be too young to remember when doing this meant getting up and walking down the high street at 830. You sit at home, click around and money appears... anyone over 40 is thankful because compared to trading 1999, this is science fiction.

This is a good place to stay informed about what they're doing.. https://ppb.technology/

This was an interesting piece Ensuring Stability and Responding to Failures on the Betfair Exchange

I don't really have a problem with them having problems, it's just their response to them and the development of the exchange.

I had a really good relationship with the ops director at Betfair in past and when there was an issue he would call and tell me what the problem was and what they would do about it. He also asked me to report to them on any potential problems we saw. One year we spotted a major issue a few weeks before the Grand National and Betfair were able to to identify the cause and fix it before the race itself.

At this moment in time I don't even received schedule outages notices. That's incredibly poor.

Totally unacceptable. In fact, that's bordering on being almost unbelievable

I tend to be out and about a lot and use their mobile app. Normally when there has been technical problems you get a message pop up to tell you and that they're trying to fix it but that didn't happen on this occasion. I know it's a different subject but up until a few years ago if they ever had to void a bet you would get an email advising you but that dosen't happen anymore, you're left confused having to look back through your transactions to figure out for yourself what happened. Also in the past they had people who knew about the various mobile platforms and could advise you if you had difficulties with the app. Nowadays the 'helpdesk' people don't seem to have much more knowlege than the ordinary operators taking bets. It basically points to a deterioration in their quality of service.

with such discussions, i always *feel* for Neil T at bdp. his loyalty to the exchange shines thro and he never (for obvious reasons) laments on how things USED TO BE...

he just cuts thro it all and sorts things out -class act.

My biggest gripe is not getting any info via anything but Twitter. Wouldn't even be so bad if the account only had important info, but it's mainly promos. A simple mail/twitter/sms choice on the account info would be useful unless it's there and I haven't seen it.

Nearly all in-play out of service and suspended. They had the same issue yesterday in the middle of the day, but not many noticed since it was only Romanian third tier and the like at the time. I only noticed cause I had another query with their Twitter CS at that point.
