So are we betting on how quickly the Tories can complete a leadership election?

On the face of it Boris has got little to beat. Gove 3rd fav says it all (now loathed by Brexiteers for propping up May).
Raab might be able to give him a run for his money... if he plays dirty (Boris' affairs etc.), and there's often a surprise in these things (I made a packet on IDS when Portillo was hot fav).

how would that be playing dirty, is the definition of playing dirty stating the truth?superfrank wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 1:50 pm

No, but it doesn't affect his ability to do the job (although I guess it says something about his trustworthiness!).to75ne wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 2:26 pmhow would that be playing dirty, is the definition of playing dirty stating the truth?superfrank wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 1:50 pm

he is not trustworthy he lies all the time, I know all politicians' do but he is just a bare faced liar, I don't believe a man who his a blatant liar (and makes no bones about it either), should represent the uk.superfrank wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 2:43 pmNo, but it doesn't affect his ability to do the job (although I guess it says something about his trustworthiness!).to75ne wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 2:26 pmhow would that be playing dirty, is the definition of playing dirty stating the truth?superfrank wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 1:50 pm

I think I can see a pattern, not sure:
Favourites (winners)
1965: Reg Maudling (Heath)
1975: Willie Whitelaw (Thatcher)
1990: Michael Heseltine (Major)
1997: Ken Clarke (Hague)
2001: Portillo (IDS)
[2003 Howard coronation]
2005: David Davis (Cameron)
2016: Boris Johnson (May)
2019: Boris Johnson

As you say they're all liars to some degree, but May was in another league.
If the Tories end up with another Remainer as PM they're toast.

Just been looking at some of the odds people have been willing to take, seems many of them overreact and will take anything on offer. Might have to start looking at these markets from now on.
