I've had 2 losing weeks and I'm about £60 in profit for this week! it's my worst run for years. Partially down to weather and partially just bad trading.

Problem is I'm running out of money, I might have to sell my car just to pay my bills!

I need to start saving for times like this!

Hang in there, looks like its warming up by the weekend. Fingers crossed we'll have more next week. I guess the main thing in times like these is not to panic and take unneccesy risks, it would be easy to let it affect your trading when your thinking a lot about the money

Very true and it does affect my trading, really I should have saved for this time of year, I guess I didn't bother because last year I was still making decent money.

I really need a second income.

Rhys, I hope you don't mind me saying this, but if you're making a full-time wage from horses, perhaps terrible weather like this is a good opportunity to have a look at football markets? Champions League tonight so 8 games with great liquidity

Cheers for the suggestion, I'll take a look, is it possible to trade pre match for a reasonable profit? It's just last time I looked at football people who were making good money were all trading in play. Sounded too risky for me, I don't know much about football.

I do make a full time wage from trading horses, more then I used to make being an IT consultant but I'm not making the money I expected/wanted to make and unfortunately I don't think I ever will. I used to but the last half of this year has made me think otherwise.

I am down this month as well Rhys. It may be my first losing month since August 2006. (Although I only average 7p a month if the IR are reading this)

I think you have to take it on the chin and use the down time to check out other markets.

Football for example. US Racing.

Sorry to hear your feeling it too sweetybt!

looking at the US meetings there is just not enough money to trade? I'm going to have my first dabble with the football tonight, I have no idea where to start but I'll just try and get involved with a few markets like over/under 2.5 maybe try out soccer mystic, I'll use small stakes because I'm bound to lose money, not that I can afford to!

Aren't all these all-weather meetings an annoyance? I could be watching Rawhide or Bonanza...

It's tough out there and a bit depressing. Unless we get some really good action soon this is likely to be my poorest period for some time. I am struggling to remember a period like it since I started on Betfair. Take comfort form that, I doubt we will see many periods like this.

My concern is that if the cold really gets into the ground we could see this period without jumps last for a very long time. I don't get on with these mixed up AW days so I've been spending more time on other stuff where possible. Been ill for a little while so probably a useful time to have less action anyhow, there's a positive.

Roll on spring!

Other issue is that if the cold spell keeps up they won't be able to keep putting on these extra AW races. There is only so many AW horses in training. Only 2 more weeks until an enforced 3 days off.
