I was trading one of the US races this evening (20:04 Hawth) to be precise and it closed 5 minutes before it was supposed to.
Luckily I had closed my trades.
Could anyone tell me why?
Thanks in advance.
Steve.

Common occurenece on USA tracks. They receive very little revenue from off track betting mediums and hence have a care factor of zero on how there timing affects those of course - particularly the likes of offshore bookies and exchanges such as betfair. For some courses, the racing is almost a side issue to the inhouse clubs, pokie machines etc. If you really want to trade USA races, best advice I can give is run dual monitors and stream live pictures via ESPN.

The off times are only a guide for US racing. The tracks are allowed to start when they like - be it late, early or on time. You need pictures to trade the US markets.

Yes and often. BA and Betfair times are advertised off times only. You really need to be receiving streamed video. IMO, No video = No bet.

Steve - the races going off early is quite a common thing. As you can see Hawthorne is running 15mins early now and by the end of the card it will be even more.stevequal wrote:Freddy,
I've traded about 150 US races since I started and have a pretty healthy profit.
Its just these annoying cut offs.
Steve.
150 races isn't really all that many, there are 59 US races tonight and it is a bit off a quiet night for them. So expect to see it happening more as you do more races. Certain tracks tend to do it all the time, Suffolk is one of the worse but they are closed at the moment.
So be careful as you don't want to end up with an open lay as your healthy profit could quickly disappear.

Totally agree, also watch the Liquidity, put to much in the market it wont get matched. Tracks that are spot on UK Time and have decent money volume are Aqeduct and Turf Paradise, i suppose they are equivilent to our Ascot,s and Newmarkets Cheltenham, be sure to also use your global settings and SCALP for 1 tick offsets, Try to Swing and some of those prices will swing you to the poorhouserubysglory wrote:Yes and often. Which is why you need pictures, it happens all the time, stevequal wrote:Freddy,
