...and is there any way to measure it so I would know exactly?
I am looking to take the trading game on the road, and trading over 4G seems a real possibility. Only concern seems to be how much data this would use. I trade in-running horse racing, so would love to know how much data this is going to require.
thanks!
How much data does one use trading an in-play market?

If you are using Windows 10, you can view data usage under Settings > Network & Internet > Data Usage > View usage per app. That covers the last 30 days though, so might not be detailed enough. Networx Bandwidth Monitor is free (and has a portable version) and gives hourly/daily/weekly etc usage report. it doesn't seem to show usage per app though. Hopefully there are other recommendations...
Refreshing a 12 runner market at 200ms uses about 1.5MB per minute.
if you are using polling and trading every horse race you could use up to 50Gb a of data a month.
Or about 1.7Gb per day
If you use streaming rather than polling in the communication settings that will reduce bandwidth significantly. But the best solution is to use a VPS and to trade from that: -

That will reduce the bandwidth usage to tiny amounts and provide other benefits as well.
