Do bookie prices cause Betfair prices to rise & fall, or vice versa?

Also, if a horse is steaming or drifting with the bookies generally, is there a good chance it will do the same on Betfair?

Thanks

Others may have a different view but my view is that in the early days bookies prices led Betfair. Now it often feels the other way around to me.

In a weak market on a poor card, some decent money can move prices on course for sure. But on other courses and cards the relationship is weaker.

I don't use bookie prices in my view of the market.

The bookies tend to watch the market on Betfair and if one is backed on BF then it is cut at the track, otherwise all the arbers get involved. Shame but bookmakers are not the same anymore
