Be aware - Race times are going back so that Channel 4 can cover the races.

THE first five races at Cheltenham today will be staged in the slot that had been reserved for the following contest as a consequence of the cross-country chase's abandonment.

Cheltenham's decision, which ensures Channel 4 is not left with only three races in its broadcast, will push back the time of the opening race to 12.40pm.

It also means the 2m1f handicap hurdle, which will now be staged at 1.10pm, becomes the first race to be shown live by Channel 4.

£650k on the race and it's still 1/2 hour away. I think people haven't worked out there is a delay.

I find these delays ruin the markets. The money is now going to spread out massively over a period of 30mins of more. Yet another disappointment to the last few weeks. I really don't like how Channel 4 hold so much power over racing despite the fact that they pay nothing for the coverage but instead it is Racing paying them to show the races - go figure

I agree this move will just suck the life out of the market. Really annoying and frustrating.

To top it off my local Telephone Exchange in Wandsworth is down, taking out the broadband in the area and my 3G signal which I use for back up is running like treacle....

one question for the experts.....on sthl 13.30 why punters have hevily backed a horse that had little chance to win?????
GO AMWELL (n7) suppose to be on 20/1 prerace but some1 pushed, the price to 6/1...was that a manipulation? Yesterday was my last day here....somehow im still logged in so I use it to ask my last question about horses and say goodbye to all ....take care all...it was a pleasure to know you all.....

Melsey, I'm in Wandsworth too. Couldn't believe it when I sat down to the first decent day's racing in weeks and no internet due to "maintenance at the exchange". Feels like a conspiracy!
Still at least it's back up now so hopefully I can make something out of the rest of the day.

I enjoyed the race that 'Midnight Chase' won. That was a nice conventional 'steamer' favourite, coming in from 5s to 4s, even someone as dumb as me saw that one coming. I didn't green the trade, instead letting it go In-Play and getting the bigger win. Good to get back to winning ways, however small, and get some confidence back, after a lot of bad luck this year.
