Find it strange that the backstop arrangements for NIreland seem to have disappeared from current political debate... Last poll I heard about had support for a united Ireland at over 60% and an Independent Scotland at over 50%...

The only tory leadership candidate who seems prepared to deal with these issues is Rory... Can't help thinking its goodbye to a United Kingdom unless they get this mess resolved soon.

Rory's plan is to water down May's WA even more and hope to get it through.

All non-Tories want Rory to win because he's not a Tory either.

The person most likely to get non-tories to vote tory seems to be the logical choice rather than choosing Marmite. Decent military career too and straight talking. I pencilled him in as was one to watch in 2014 when he was elected by MPs from all parties as Chairman of the Defence Select Committee, the youngest Chair of a select committee in parliamentary history. I always thought he behaved with maturity and dignity.

It's a shame realpolitik seems to have died in this country otherwise he'd stand a good chance.

I've been cathcing up on those series of The Thick of It in iPlayer. Still as good as ever if you can stop the nausea from the wobbly camera work.
What's striking is it looks so old !!! Series 1 was only in 2005 but no smartphones and CRT montors on all the desks.

Technically 600k votes, and 1.9% in terms of swings, and devolved NI and the Scots voted to stay by much bigger margins.

But I get your point, you won by a TKO and the help of ukip's clever 'Bring back control' and 'We'll negotiated great new deals' campaigns. Not much sign of 'control' and no sign of great 'new deals' yet I'm sure you'll agree, but early days.

Clean breaks are fine on day #1 but there obvioulsy has to be deals in place for day #2, not having a transition period will make that a pretty frantic 24hrs of negotiating. You have much more faith in our politicians than I do, 2 years to negotiate an exit, but only a matter of days and weeks to negotiate our new arrangements?? Really ? I don't see them organising a leaving party in that time let alone entire new economic, trading, defence and security arrangements, plus funding for all the medical and scientific joint research projects there is going on.

As I said before, Leave is hot on clear slogans like 'clean exit' but I'm a details sort of person, and I don't trust politicians have that covered the way you do.

The UK voted as a whole. London, NI, and Scotland are integral parts of the UK. It's irrelevant how different regions of the UK voted.

If they'd been the political will, we could have been out now and a sensible Free Trade Agreement implemented, and we could have got back to discussing how we move forward in the world.

It's the Remain side that has been the cause of all this delay, division and strife - because they couldn't accept defeat with good grace, and still can't.

Steward is definately Tory, he's all about the effect of Brexit on business, as all true Tories are. Tory's aren't usually about how people 'feel' about a situation like Boris is selling.

If you want someone who's had a lifetime of being an unswerving eurosceptic, then you should be voting for Corbyn, his views on Europe are very much like your own if you look at his earlier speeches when he was a backbencher, and why I left the Labour party when he became leader.

Remember frank, brexit isn't a left/right thing even though the media have zoomed in on the right because they're more shouty, neither political extreme left or right is keen on Europe, it's us in the middle who favour it. That's why the votes are going with the Brexit Party and LD rather than left vs right. That is the story of this decade.

I agree with you there frank, I can't even see the point of it being on TV. Just send the 150,000 a leaflet and when they've picked one, then tell us what he's got planned.

Re the 'Whoever said that" .... I just get confused about the ideology. Is it about control for regions, or being controlled from the centre?
It's just seems a bit Goldilocks, Europe is too big to be in control, Scotland is too small to have it's own way, but the UK is just about the right size for us all to be treated the same.
