Hi All,
having received my customary "stuffing" on the hot favourite at Cheltenham, I thought I'd look back over the past 14 months of Saturdays since they are invariably a disaster, in trading terms, for me. I note that it coincides with the fact that there are usually a number of warm order favourites and in spite of over a years trading I'm still only managing the pitiful strike rate of 1 in 7 successful trades on these beasts (it was this figure that prompted me to concentrate on 3rd favs in these races with moderate success).
My question is (finally) where do these races figure in the profits/losses of other traders i.e. are they where all the money is made (I suspect so) or are they "big hit" races?
cheers, P
Saturday
Am I the only one who finds Saturdays best days for trading? I think since I started this business, friday and saturdays where always my best days, markets are liquid, plenty of real money, fantastic! As for other days, esp. mondays looks more like a traders warzone, everyone is trying to spoof other one...
Lol, yes, all that juicy money, it is very attractive. I find trading is so much fun that I have to practically tie myself up to avoid continueing on Saturdays when things are going awry. I have to use my own form of mogodon, football trading, to stay away from the nags. Oh well, off to the terraces,

lol, this is my first day on the horses since 2nd Dec. It feels exactly the same as before, win one, lose one, repeat...
I think I'm a bit rusty anyway, but this winter is so far proving more difficult than last year (which was my first winter). Still it's nice to have something to trade for a change anyway.

I got off to a good start this afternoon, making a small profit in about 5 races in a row.
Then I made the mistake of thinking 'Hey, I'm finally getting the hang of this trading lark!', and got complacent, with predictable results!
But I take heart from the fact that I had a few races where things went really well. If I can repeat in future races what I did during those races, hopefully I'll get similar results.

Found Cheltenham brilliant all day, Lingfield and Southwell took a while to get going but finished them very well as well.
All in all very pleased to have had 3 meetings on with sensible timings all day and even despite a loose horse at Southwell towards the end of the day they managed to keep on time.
Just hope things are going to get back to normal but sounds like the weather isn't going to play ball

Do 'normal Saturdays' exist anymore? Did I miss them being banned by the BHA?

Also seems that there just arent the horses for the races at the moment.
Seem to be getting endless small fields with odds on favs. Can't remember a period of so many 4 or less runner races.
