That's it for me guys, the weather is turning so I'm off.

It's been an absolute pleasure this year, I wish you all a fantastic chrimbo. I may be back before New Year if a thaw sets in, if not I'm on the piste.

Ascot off tomorrow so I think that's about the end of it. A shortened week next week so with the weather likely to kill off other fixtures its going to have to be a very weak end to the year. :(

But, at least I will get more time to play with the new gadgets I bought for christmas. :P

I am going to learn to play the piano next year, so I have bought a mid range digital upright to practice on. I'm not quite a starter as I have been playing on a electronic keyboard for the last year. I can thrown out a few tunes but can't read music or get them right on a proper piano due to the feel. So a decent one in the dining room will hopefully get me to that level.

I never got the chance to learn music when I was young, so this is something I've wanted to do for some time. I also find playing completely takes my mind off everything and puts my mind in a different place. Hopefully I'm not too burnt out to make a good go of it. The kids should get something out of it as well.

On the flip side, I've converted the conservatory into a games room. Brand new LED TV in place and various consoles set up and running. So I can flip from all out war on the console to some Gershwin on the piano depending on how the trading has gone. ;)

Sounds good - we have a nice old piano going begging, I only got as far as busy bee on the recorder  Rest of the family were the musical ones though I would like to learn the drums at some point down the line.

The games room sounds more like my thing ;) I do like my consoles, especially the old ones - I have a room planned out in my mind (well a whole house actually :) ) that I will make one day with all the gear, for now though I will have to make do looking at other people living the dream:

You get some epic efforts on there :!:

One day I will get to do mine, one day..... :!:

I used to play guitar and keyboard (though not particularly well!) and a few of the other traders I've spoken to have been practicing musicians also, not sure if it's a coincidence

I was a grade 8 distinction trumpet/cornet player when I was 13 and travelled all over with various bands. Was really cool!

Unfortunately I discovered beer at uni and that was the trumpet out of the window!

If you are going to learn the piano (I was forced to as a condition of my music scholarship to a boarding school) you need to practise every day. Even if it i only for 10 minutes! You will get frustrated but you just got to stick with it! Learning music is easy, its just practise practise practise once you have to improve your sightreading. good luck!

On the other hand if you have black ops would be happy to set up a BA multiplayer session!!!

My wife is learning the piano too and it is really annoying. She can be playing 15 minutes just two chords!

It disrupts my trading, so I think we'll have to get a bigger house?

I play the guitar btw. I've never been like Santana, but it does get your mind elsewhere and it can be surprisingly rewarding, when after many attempts you pull out that music you love ;)

Why not get an electric keyboard with a headphone socket?

That way, she can hammer out the same 2 chords as often as she likes, without you having to know about it! :)

A nice idea, but it gave me too much trouble to get that piano here just for it to be silent?

Did I miss anything?

I had 8 great nights in Flaine. Stayed in the MMV hotel which was really welcoming with excellentt food.

Then had a 3 days cross country skiing in Gerardmer, in the Vosges.

I am back refreshed and ready for action

Things have only just started to return to normal, so you haven't missed much. A good call.
