Liverpool 0 -1 Wolves
You'd have got good odds at the start of the season on Blackpool going into 2011 being 3 points ahead of Liverpool, with a game in hand!

Don't start if things carry on like this we'll struggle in the Championship. What a shocker

Possibly.
But it might be felt that the problem lies with the squad Hodgson inherited. Henry might therefore give him time to buy new players and get rid of some of the existing players.
And simply getting in a new manager might make the team's morale worse, not better.

With Man Utd away in the FA Cup approaching, I wouldn't be suprised if he was sacked before then
I'm thinking along the lines that Torres and Gerrard are performing crap
Even worse than poor form, they looked disinterested against Wolves
With the January transfer window approaching, getting rid of Hodgson might stop some clubs trying to unsettle Torres or Gerrard with a potential transfer offer

Indeed.
It's hard to understand why the players are playing so poorly. Gerrard in particular, given that he grew up loving the club.
You'd have thought that the arrival of a new owner and a new manager would have lifted the squad.

Yeah especially following his comments to the cameras he must be feeling "I don't need this hassle" The difficulty is that just changing the Gaffa apart from the feel good bounce that sometimes follows Liverpool are just dire!! The squad is worse than prior to Benetez leaving with some extremely questionable decision making
.

Perhaps the poor decision making has been out of desperation, ie 'If I stick with the same old tactics, we'll be doomed, so I might as well mix things up.'
The risk is that tinkering, rather than addressing the underlying problems, can just make things worse...
You see a similar thing in trading. Someone gets stopped out and misses out on a lovely trend. So they widen their stops, but take a bit hit on their next trade, and tighten their stops. And so it goes on...
