Just in case anyone is wondering, Simon and I aren't in any kind of non-platonic relationship!
I'm not sure this is the place to be having this discussion, but all I said was that I felt that this conversation was going nowhere - it was generating a lot of heat and no light - and therefore I was calling it a day.
We probably won't ever agree on Betfair, and my views seem to rile you, but that's fine. You go your way, and I'll go mine, and we'll agree to disagree, and keep in touch from time to time to touch base.

You can exit at bsp using Guardian. It won't be spot on but even my system isn't because bsp can't be known to a high precision. But over the course of enough races the imbalances even out. You could also do it via Excel and some beginner's VBA.ruthlessimon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 6:21 pmLet’s assume we discover an edge that works exiting @ bsp – how are you gonna execute it? Only 1 person in the world I know who can do that, & it’s bloody messy; bloody complicated!
If I could exit @ Bsp, my profitability is boosted by like 5%/10% - although I’d need to reanalyze that – but I’m pretty sure it’ll give me a boost.
All you have to do is calculate a closing bet (stake) at the current mid price and hive that bet away at 1.01 or 1000 with a TakeSP status. When the price or your position changes, cancel and recalculate your close, with a suitable change threshold to prevent an excessive number of transactions. Occasionally you won't have a closing trade in place if the race starts before its placed or starts between a cancel & replace but again those balance out over time.
5% or 10% for an hour's work (tops).....I did explain how to do this in an email quite a while ago. I also mentioned that it would be a feature I'd incorporate into a safety bot to help mitigate the damage of outages if I traded manually. It's not that complicated.

But srsly mate, you overstepped the mark. My offer still holds, & it speaks volumes you aren't taking it. Not many turn down a risk free shot at £1000. If that's called heat, at least it's potentially very profitable heat

I don't want to debate this, but I didn't overstep any mark. I gave you my honest feedback. I make no apologies for that.
The market is a brutal place, and if you are unwilling to take a bit of straight talking on the chin, you have to ask yourself if this is the right arena for you.
As for the bet, even if Peter says that the system is a non-starter, you can say that he didn't give a good enough explanation, so have a get out, so it's not a proper bet.
Plus, if an eccentric wants to give me a grand of their money if a particular event happens, at zero risk to me, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable accepting. It doesn't strike me as a particularly ethical thing to do; I'd feel like I was taking advantage of their foolishness (and yes, I know that's basically what profitable traders do in the marketplace, but still)...

If certain parts of the system are invalid, I agree void.SweetLyrics wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 7:55 pmAs for the bet, even if Peter says that the system is a non-starter, you can say that he didn't give a good enough explanation, so have a get out, so it's not a proper bet.
However, if he agrees with every premise (of which there are three - which I will lay out prior), I win. If he agrees with you, no premise is correct (i.e. all 3 are wrong), you win. If "some" are right, it's a scratch. Come on mate, lets do this.
Fine, make it 50/50 then - £100 each if it makes you feel betterSweetLyrics wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 7:55 pmPlus, if an eccentric wants to give me a grand of their money if a particular event happens, at zero risk to me, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable accepting. I'm going to have to read back thru this thread to find out what this prop bet is they're talking about.

I guess you saw my explanation about how to close at bsp?
If you can see 5 or 10% between your close and bsp, you should trade that seperately, ideally automated. A bot doesn't mind waiting all day for a few opportunities.

I did see it in the mire, but yeah I'll a good look at it later, really appreciated

How did you arrive at that figure?ruthlessimon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 6:21 pmBut to be professional pre-off swinger, min stakes need to be £5 a tick (at least) if we’re trading a very rigid strategy.

I thought it was a shiny nugget in the mire actually. Those are worth picking up.ruthlessimon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 9:50 pmBringing me back to realityShaunWhite wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 9:48 pmI guess you saw my explanation about how to close at bsp?

I wondered that too, but I decided not to pursue it.
