How to know when a market is created ?

Hi guys,

First post here. I'd like to know if there is a way/function in the betfair API if one can check if a new market has been created ? typically, horse races are generally created the day before but no more information is given by the bdp help desk.

I guess the only way is to keep polling the markets list and seeing if there are new additions?
