Hi all, I have always - until now, been a Lay To Open trader when it comes to Horse Racing. Recently I had a huge scare when I lost internet and landline phone connection and was left exposed for a large sum. I have since revisted my strategy to a Bet To Win To Open situation so as to reduce overall initial liability. I have struggled to change strategy and get my mind around events effectively happening in reverse. Just wondering of how the majority of fellow Traders engage ? Lay or Win Bet first ?

Sometimes I back, sometimes I lay

It all depends on whether I think the selection will drift or shorten

After such a scare why not employ a back up (as has bee said before) with a 3G dongle gizmo and a laptop conected and logged in to BF ready to go. If you are stepping up trading or risking large sums and your strategy has been successful up to now then why fix what is not broken. You can at least close your position out or feel more relaxed about confident about your safety net. There can be no guarantees but at least you are minimising the risks to your overall bottom line.

Thanks and fair question. I have tried as suggested prior. Unfortunately where I live their is no 3G Network. I live in a blackspot. Ideally I would love to set the offset bet placed with a Auto SP ability, but till then we live with what we have. Just curious on the preference of other traders to Lay to Open.
