Hello everyone,

trying to get data on favourites.
Which are the tracks and races where favourites most often win?
Came across couple of sites but would appreciate your opinion.
Thanks very much

Flatstats should be useful.

TBH I don't think you'll need it. Favourites/2nd favourites everywhere seem to win a hell of a lot more than say 15 years ago. I looked at a busy day's racing results recently, there had been 46 races that day, many competitive looking races. The favourite had won 22 and the 2nd favourite 13.

I see many big handicaps these days 16-22 runners still won by the favourite or 2nd favourite despite there being 8 other horses in the race with form seemingly good enough to beat the favourtites. If I'm not mistaken I think this year's Cambridgeshire, a big competitive field was won by the favourite.

Yesterday there were 27 races (UK and Ireland), favourite won 13, 2nd favourite 1.

I remember up until the early 2000s it was broadly expected that favourites would win around 35-40% of the time across the board. Nowadays that figure seems closer to 50%. Naturally some of these will be odds on shots.

Isn't this the guy behind the Maria Laying system. First time i read about it today. Other than Maria being a hit for Blondie!
