Is it just me, or did Hodgson's decision to play an injured Gerrard yesterday smack of desperation?

If Gerrard was fit to play, surely he should have been in the starting 11. And if he wasn't, he shouldn't have been playing at all!

I can understand a manager risking playing an injured key player in a Champion's League final. But not when you're playing at home against Bolton in a league fixture!

Spot on Jeff, of course he is desparate. Even the win might not be enough to keep his job.
I personally would stick with him as I think he is doing a great job :)

Maybe Hodgson is doing as good a job as anyone could with the squad at his disposal. I don't know.

But if that squad isn't good enough, then over the summer he should have got rid of a few players, and bought in some quality players.

BTW, it will be interesting to see how things pan out with the new Director of Football. IMHO, there should just be one director of football - the manager himself. There's no way Fergie would stand for someone telling him which players he could buy and sell! LOL!

When Gerrard skyrockets a penalty and Liverpool lose 3-1 away to Blackburn, you know something's seriously wrong with team morale...

I suppose the question is who you replace Hodgson with. Hodgson's a top manager, which makes me wonder whether Liverpool's problems go deeper than who the manager is.

I've always admired Scouse humour

When Blackburn were 2-0 up, the Blackburn fans started to chant at their ex-manager 'you're getting sacked in the morning'

The liverpool fans joined in!

"We have got a lot more expensive failures on our list than good players that we have brought in for next to nothing."

I winced when I read this!

I wonder how the 'expensive failures' feel about having him as their manager!

Not sure Kenny is a good replacement. Half the current Liverpool team won't know who he is and his management style is out of date for the modern game IMHO.

Time will tell, I think Kenny will command a hell of a lot more respect than the (ultra modern?) management skills of Roy Hodgson. Besides, they will know him as he already works for the club. I think Liverpool will have better 2nd half to the season now, I wouldn't have thought that if Hodgson was still there.

Though I do agree that the caretaker role until the end of the season is probably as long as he should take the reigns for.

John W Henry made his fortune through trend following.

I suspect he'll apply the same principles to football, ie:

If he likes the way things are going at the end of the season, he'll let the situation continue.

If he doesn't, he'll cut his losses and get another manager.

BTW, one person who we can safely say won't be succeeding Dalgleish is Lawrie Sanchez:

Have to say I was sceptical when 'King Kenny' took over at Liverpool but their transformation has been remarkable this season.
