Can't connect to excel

Hi guys
Newbie here I'm trying to connect to an excel spreadsheet but keep getting an error messege up I also use open office on my computer.the error messege I get is saying retrieving the com class factory for component failed due to 80040154 class not registered

Any ideas or help much appreciated

I remember having a similar issue and the solution was deleting some excel registry keys. I would put your error into a google search and follow instructions for deleting registry keys.
