NHS spending has risen year on year
Even if it has, it's not enough.

This isn't some parisan article from the Guardian, it's from The Sun.

So the answer to all problems in an ageing population with new cures being created each day is unlimited funding? Even beyond that which a working population can support? I've no idea what the solution is, but I can't see that you just throw more money at it. Perhaps cap it as a % of GDP to make it definable, sustainable and as a guide to efficiency?

Telling how the left-wingers here completely ignored the discussion on debt and quickly returned to posting sob stories about food banks and the NHS.

The biggest reason for the NHS crisis is not the headline funding figure but the cut in social care funding from local authorities who have had their budgets cut in many cases by 50%.

Sob stories? The people that use these resources are referred by social services. You don't walk into a food bank and say 'give me food'.

That's the usual par-for-the-course behaviour of the liberal left whingers, sadly.

Don't get me on that one! I have just been through it with my mother, with a LA posting the cost would have been about £500pw but because they couldn't place her I had to take her private at a cost of £900pw … that was for 15 months! She had to go into care because her dementia became too much when she put her electric kettle on the electric hob and 3 fire engines responded! :o I was on holiday when a cousin contacted me so I arranged for her to go into a private home for a month to await my return and try and sort out my options. On arriving back in the UK I contacted the LA and was basically told that because I had placed her in a private home there was no immediate need for them to act. So it ended up costing me £30,000 because I had the wherewithal to find an immediate solution to an emergency. One of the LA assessors actually told me that I should have just called them and told them I was on holiday and therefore they need to sort it. It really pisses me off that if you are a lazy brainless scrounger you get everything done for you but if you have a bit about you and try to give assistance you are taken advantage of.

I told you not to get me on that one!!

Boris should continue the attack on the BBC - the cheek of the BBC to suggest most people agree with the charge!

Lefties will no doubt stick up for the BBC :P

Anyone earning £50,000 + per annum should have private medical insurance including dental, no ifs or buts. Government takes care of anyone earning below that figure.

In 10 years time the NHS will cost a stupid amount of money. It cannot be a bottomless pit of money year after year.

The original idea was good but not government since has explained that taxes needed to increase 3% each year to keep it funded. After all that would be a short term vote loser.

Having said that, I have been to hospital 8 times in 35 years and bar one experience got first class treatment.

That leaves me speechless. I think of the effort I expended with the illness's of my father, mother and other relatives. I asked for nothng from the state.
You greedy, selfish individual. I'm truly shocked at your attitude.

Hopefully in 10 years time gene therapy should have progressed to the point where costs start to reduce dramatically. Hopefully?

This is another reason costs are escalating...

...the solution is susidised fags, booze and cakes, and a ban on jogging ASAP! That way people do the decent thing and die while they're paying tax instead of after 20yrs of free prescriptions, arsing around all day on mobility scooters and then needing £700 a week care for another 10yrs. I wonder if any party would be brave enough to suggest a much needed cull in their next manifesto, could be popular with the younger voters? ;)

It's a shame you didn't remain speechless. And if you care to actually find that brain you thought you had you will work out that I didn't ask for anything from the state, I arranged for her to go private to make sure she was safe until I could make plans. It seems that your intelligence level is so low that you don't realise that "private" means paying from own money, not state money. You will be pleased to know I make no charge for educating you to a very basic level of understanding of the English language.
