As well as the risks you mention there is also the risk of intimidation. But all of that could happen with the current postal voting system.wearthefoxhat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 8:47 amI wonder when an on-line vote option will be set up. I'm sure the vote% turnout would be higher than we see at the moment.
Of course there's a possibility of hacking/tampering etc, but nowadays there are great advancements in online security.

I don't see that happening I'm afraid … there are times when I have said "he/she shouldn't be allowed to vote"! But voting has always been an age of majority thing and not educationally based and seeing as the Left would have us believe all Conservatives had a better education than "working class" children I can hear the howls of unfairness starting already!ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 9:15 amPerhaps voting should be even harder with a test to show you understand the facts and you're not just being misled by spin (both sides).

I'm amazed how many people willing to vote for a confirmed Marxist there are on a trading forum!
You do realise that if we'd being living under the likes of comrade Corbyn for the last 30 years they'd be no betting exchange at all. You'd have a single state run bookie if you were lucky.
Horse racing would have probably been banned too by the animal rights and class war nutters (all leftists of course).

What makes you convinced you're right and they're wrong? It sounds to me like you've fallen for the doomsday scaremongering.superfrank wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:58 pmI'm amazed how many people willing to vote for a confirmed Marxist there are on a trading forum!
But even if it were true, the nature of left leaning people is to put the greater good over self interest. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if the entire betting industry collapsed as I'd simply find another avenue to pursue, I was sucessful before I came to trading and I'll be sucessful long after I've left it. If you're a one trick pony then that's your problem.

The popular illusion is that bright people are Tory and those less fortunate are Labour but the stats show that the higher the level of education, the less right wing people are.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 10:28 amI don't see that happening I'm afraid … there are times when I have said "he/she shouldn't be allowed to vote"! The pissy weather tomorrow is making my low turnout position look like a good one.
Zero point in voting in my ward so I'll stay at home rather than risk being the 0.001% that spoils my bet
Voters are much more savvy about whether their ward might swing so I've always assumed there'll be more 'what's the point' stay-at-homes than usual.

That'd be another source of revenue down the pan for the govt. Oh well, there's always the magic money trees.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 1:50 pmIt wouldn't bother me in the slightest if the entire betting industry collapsed as I'd simply find another avenue to pursue, I was sucessful before I came to trading and I'll be sucessful long after I've left it. I'm not. I run my own business - trading is a nice profitable sideline.

I'm not sure the more considered decent Tory voters on here will appreciate your view that they're inherently cruel people and it's only the left who care about animal welfare. You might not care but I'm sure they do.superfrank wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:58 pmanimal rights and class war nutters (all leftists of course).

I said nothing of the sort. You're embarrassing yourself. Forget about a child sleeping on a hospital floor, and think about the 100s of people driven to suicide by this government. I have a friend on UC who admits she might not still be here if she wasn't fortunate enough to have well off parents. If I had to pick a single reason for voting Labour, this is it.superfrank wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:58 pmI'm amazed how many people willing to vote for a confirmed Marxist there are on a trading forum!

Sorry you said people interested in animal rights were "all lefties" so it was an easy mistake to make.superfrank wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:24 pmI said nothing of the sort. No I didn't. I referred to "animal rights and class war nutters" who want racing banned. I was referring to extreme animal rights activists, as you well know, and not those interested in animal welfare (as are the racing industry and all right minded people, myself included). I'm a member of the Greyhound Trust and donate every month!ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:43 pmSorry you said people interested in animal rights were "all lefties" so it was an easy mistake to make.
