Not sure why I'm being charged random commission like 9.56% and 7.69% commission on australian markets when I should be charged 5% as a resident of the UK.

Back subtotal: 76.44
Lay subtotal: -64.83
Market subtotal: 11.61
Commission @ 9.56%: 1.11
Net Market Total: 10.50

Back subtotal: 73.60
Lay subtotal: -65.54
Market subtotal: 8.06
Commission @ 7.69%: 0.62
Net Market Total: 7.44

Anyone know why?

Different states have different rates and then your commission discount rate is applied. Commission discount doesn't apply anymore in the UK since it went to 2% but still applies to Antipodian markets. If in doubt check with Betfair.

Market base commission is set by the location of the event, not where you live.

I see, thanks for the input. The betfair info page is a little misleading.

That's the default market base rate. That varies depending on where you live. I think the higher rates such as Australia are fixed regardless of where you're trading from.
