A sorry tale. Apparently he ran a service as well which he touches on in this post. Credit to him though for finally realising he had a gambling addiction and taking steps to bring it to a halt.
A sorry tale
Good for him about coming clean so publicly, but sounds to me like he still believes that he's an amazing analyst, despite not having the hard proof in the form of results behind him. That's why I think there's a decent chance he gets back in again at some point once his financial situation improves.
As sob stories go it's an awfully familiar one with a seemingly happy ending but the compounded misery that he inflicted via his services is most likely far greater, I'd say that the people that blindly follow such services probably have bigger issues than him. The really unsettling thing for me was the fact that a person like that is able to create various subscription services in the first place, and then get hired by Betfair on top of that as well, yikes.

At the end of the day it's people like him that are sometimes filling our pockets but online we rarely see the consequences or even care.
And then they bombard me with all the 'responsible gambling' emails!

Too true on the first part, but I don't think so on the last one, not even seemingly.Kai wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 1:46 pmGood for him about coming clean so publicly, but sounds to me like he still believes that he's an amazing analyst, despite not having the hard proof in the form of results behind him. After ALL that and to then towards the backend go: "I don’t see myself ever being able to switch off completely from it, but I have to acknowledge that, for now at least, I can’t be involved in it the way I have been before."
Shows him to, best case, be delusional about his own situation and unaware of how addiction works. Or, worst case, shows him as a sociopath who knows this "coming clean" is his best route out of this pickle and back into exploiting those who care for him once again soon enough.
Don't want to sound like a negative Nancy and I do believe in second chances in general, but that is why I used the word "seemingly" in the context of a happy ending.Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 2:33 pmToo true on the first part, but I don't think so on the last one, not even seemingly.Kai wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 1:46 pmGood for him about coming clean so publicly, but sounds to me like he still believes that he's an amazing analyst, despite not having the hard proof in the form of results behind him. He did offer a generic apology to his subscribers but I don't think the thought that some of them might be in a much more precarious position than him even crossed his mind, that someone might actually off themselves on account of his bad bets and losing sprees, because he was taking advantage of the most vulnerable, desperate, unstable and weak people out there. Which is why I can only offer a limited amount of sympathy to his cause.

Interesting that he thinks there is a 'last hurdle'....
Yeah it doesn't give you much hope for him if he's using racing punsjohnsheppard wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 9:33 amInteresting that he thinks there is a 'last hurdle'....

If there's any new 'traders' here who think they're escaping a gambling environment, now might be the time to remind them that trading is just another gambling strategy. If you're at all worried about your gambling then 'trading' isn't something you should be getting involved with.
