Chelmsford inspecting the err... wind.

Really, you are going to belt around at 40mph and you are worried about the wind?
Maybe it's the wrong type of wind?

Horses aren't too fussed about the wind so it's more likely to be about spectator safety. The storm was well advertised though.

....wondered what the hell was going on with the delay. Probably worried about a roof panel blowing off or something.

Horses hate the wind I'm pretty sure - but surely it's more to do with the jockeys getting unbalanced

I've never ridden a horse at speed (did some light cantering) but I'm pretty sure horses aren't too affected and I doubt professional jockeys would have much difficulty balancing. When Cheltenham had to be postponed in the naughties the concern was entirely around the Guinness tent being blown away and racegoers being left without Guinness, as well as the obvious safety concern. ;)

Good to see the UK and Irish not working together again today.

Why can't Punchestown have been put back 5 minutes to create 10 min gaps before and after rather than 5 minutes before and 15 minutes after :?:

Not sure why there's no early evening US racing tonight but it's three hours of compulsory housework for me. :(
