I think in this issue of the fact that there's been enough people out there to win mass votes for idiotic choices, such as Donald Trump, and Brexit, working class people voting for Tories.....
People is dumb, what can you do *shrug*

Can barely spell properly, let alone think for themselves. I usually abstain from political discussions but media outlets seem to have become more powerful than actual armies, controlling information is where most of the wars are fought nowadays, like with Trump going to war with Fox News.

This era probably isn't even the peak of human stupidity, plenty more to come I'd say :) Reminds me of the movie Idiocracy which is a very good satire.

I feel modern TV is a major issue in dumbing down the population over time, I've not "watched TV" in 20 years probably as there's just nothing interesting there, simply watching a few American commercials on NBC during half-time is difficult enough, I feel slightly dumber already after that, no idea how people are able to watch that on a regular basis. I prefer to only consume the content that I actually want to consume.

Then there's the ethics question - are winning traders basically living off less intelligent people's mistakes? An interesting thought to ponder if a pro.
The majority of people in the markets are there to have fun not make their fortune. I wouldn't have a clue who my winnings come from but I don't trap bet or past post so my conscience is clear.

End of the day, I also agree that ethically there's nothing wrong in trading against the 'stupidity' of punters/traders in the markets of course. I just think it's an interesting factor to acknowledge in what we all try to do in markets. It's easy enough to forget it entails real people at the other end when you win. The related issue is what you produce in society as a trader, though loosely I agree the best suggestion is probably entertainment for others in the markets - I can go with that, tenuous though it is. :)

It is caveat emptor, though many of those losing their money probably couldn't understand that phrase or concept in the first place.

What I continually hope for is that those losing to even more dubious groups (bookies, bingo sites, casinos) would move over to the much fairer format of trading exchanges - at least they'd have a fair chance...though we'd still try to rinse them end of the day!

One of my favourite films Idiocracy - feel it gets more like reality all the time these days!

I wouldn't personally put TV at the top, though poss a factor - I blame social media and online sites more, the emphasis on moronic social profiles and preening from celebs to ordinary folk, constant 24/7 all year round...moronic.

It's getting worse actually, take pop music, for example - it's a total piece of turd nowadays, because producers and musicians orient on YouTube most viewed "musicians" and on those tasteless morons who boost their views, their fans  .
Nowadays you have to search internet deep to find good music which is not trying to scream at you or doesn't repeat the same word 1m times. God, I hate them, they make me grumble and I'm not even in my 40's yet.

Too true, at this rate it's only a matter of time before they elect Hulk Hogan as president and change the country's name to Murica :)

Yeah, and they're loaded with modern arms up their ass, potential monkey with a grenade.

Rules are for fools Jimbo, as they say :)

Unless you're messing around with automation of course.
