A VPN is dirt cheap if you really want the SSR feed. Will be a few bucks a year. The main issue is you'll want to run it on a dedicated machine otherwise obviously everything else you are doing on that PC will be routed through the VPN and it will be very slow,at least as far as manual BF trading is concerned. The last time I checked I remember SSR was delayed by roughly 3 seconds, if trading with that audio you need to be aware (and I'm sure you are) that the AM radio coverage here is essentially real time so you are operating at a 3 second disadvantage. Most of the in-players here go off the radio call and pretty much ignore the delayed vision.

If you do get a VPN you can view Sky 1 and Sky 2 and watch virtually every single AU race. The downside is that the latency recently increased substantially, used to be around the 5 second mark (pretty much matched up with BF going in-play) but it's 10+ now with the abolition of Flash.

Oh and curiosity got the better of me, just fired up the PC and tried listening to SSR through a UK VPN and it didn't work so definitely a geoblocking issue.

was really nice to have virtually live radio, anyone got this vlc link to work for the sky radio from the uk? Have a sky australia account with vpn but when logged in radio is 20-25 seconds delayed, TAB about 10 seconds and they are missing races
regular website just doesnt work anymore, especially with betfair suspending markets late its a real issue a horse misses the start lose a lot of value

Sorry I haven't been much help, will have a dig around in the morning and see if I can find some answers. If all else fails just call a mate over here and get them to put the phone next to the radio for the day 😂

Akamai stopped supporting Flash a few weeks ago, that's why the Betfair Live Video latency skyrocketed until they found a solution. Sky here in Australia either haven't found a solution yet or aren't looking for one.

If you are asking why Adobe are winding up Flash, no idea. Guess they think HLS/HTTP is the way of the future.

Oops that link doesn't actually go anywhere. I'll fix it in the morning but if you wanted to experiment in the meantime just search Radio TAB or Ubet Radio and you'll probably find something.

Edit - try this one

http://radiotab-lh.akamaihd.net/i/strea ... responsive

Or - http://www.radiotab.com/
Thanks, I and others have been using TAB radio since SSR Radio stopped. It is the fastest feed after SSR Radio as far as I know.

I found the coverage on SSR Radio much better though, they don't miss as many races a TAB does or at least the starts. TAB seem to love to play an interview with say a jockey and miss the start of a race but not make you aware they are racing until say 30 seconds after. On Saturday they played a race as if it were "Live" but it had actually finished sometime ago.

That makes it tricky trading right up until near the off as you can risk getting caught going inplay.

Rik on Saturday said he had been using a VPN to access SSR Radio from I think the UK which had been working until recently for him. I don't know how much a VPN is so will have a look but it probably won't be worth spending money on it unless it is extremely cheap as TAB largely does what I want.

Racing.com being available for pictures for free from the UK is great. I really like their coverage between races and usually listen to them when I don't have TAB on for a race. I hope it continues being available.
I basically just trade till 0 seconds - getting caught in-play just isnt worth it for a few extra quid imo.

Then just use the live video when its available which is about 70% of all races after 6am and can also do in-running too.

What's your phone number? ;)

You have been very helpful with your posts so thank you very much for taking the time to post and test the feeds etc. I know Rik suggested a VPN provider the other day but do you have any you would recommend us Brits use for accessing the Oz feeds?

You're not getting coverage like this elsewhere:

I use NordVPN, no doubt there are better out there but it's always worked well for me and has heaps of servers so in the unlikely event that 1 goes down, there are plenty more to choose from.

I use it to access the AU feeds on Betfair as they are geoblocked here. It's a bit ironic, now that Flash has been ditched by all the 3rd party providers BFLV is the fastest stream (that I know of) for AU races and even though I'm literally 2km away from Doomben and Eagle Farm, the UK guys actually get the pictures before I can get them! It's only 0.5sec or so but still a significant difference.

I take it you haven't tried foxtel Dr Zoidberg. It might pay for you to look into to it. Foxtel go is a no no, but straight of the dish is heaven :D

I have Foxtel but I find BFLV to be lower latency (for me). I'm about bang on 5 seconds with Foxtel, 4 seconds with BF

One of the big pro punters did mention that you can get a sky commerial sub which he said cost around 400 a month. The video was posted about 18 months to 2 years ago, it might be cheaper now.

I do sometimes jump of a bet if the horse jumps poorly or is in a bad position, just to reduce the loss, not actively trading the race. My financial advisor said Hell No to inplay trading for me :D

Yeah I had the commercial sub but it's long gone now, the switch to HD destroyed the latency. The in-venue/commercial service is delayed by just over 4 seconds now, not worth the cost anymore ☹️

So Betfair closing the race must be around 7 seconds behind!
