I seem unable to login through BA and have the following message:
Bet Angel has been unable to connect to Betfair using the supplied user name and password
Betfair returned the following message:
An exception was thrown during login: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS channel
I can login to Betfair directly and have checked multiple times the user/name and cap shift etc. I've been a daily user for many years - this is unusual.
Contact with BF support has not been helpful as this is API connection
I'm stuck - any ideas?
Login Problem
Yesterday Betfair rolled out new security protocols which is now preventing some users logging in from older versions of windows. If your using Windows 7 or 8 you'll probably need to apply all Windows updates to Windows 7 first and then install the latest version of Internet Explorer 11.
If you still have no joy drop a message to support using the link below and provide the following infomation

Which version of windows you're using
The full version number of Internet Explorer you currently have installed?
If your able to login to the main Betfair website when using Internet Explorer?

So I might be screwed, thanks betfair.
I run an already heavily modified version of windows thats maximised for security, I CANT update it.

Windows 7 has reached end of support and no longer updates, other than Microsoft's anti-virus updates. If you're still using Windows 7 it's probably time to upgrade anyway.Dallas wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 9:58 amYesterday Betfair rolled out new security protocols which is now preventing some users logging in from older versions of windows. Just FYI I am still on Windows 7 and had had updates switched off for a long time. After Dallas' suggestion I went through the update procedure including updating to explorer 11 and the problem was fixed. I agree with Dereck that its time to move on but in the meantime it did the trick.
I'm a bit of a hypocrite in that I've still got Windows 7 installed on an old computer. When I installed Win7 I needed to install 300 odd updates which will still be available, but no further security issues will be fixed. I might just use it as a backup device in future.Jukebox wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 8:46 amJust FYI I am still on Windows 7 and had had updates switched off for a long time. Not entirely true, you can still get updates for some versions of Windows 7, from memory it is enterprise only but may include professional. But you have to pay for it. The price also doubles (from memory) each year and is charged on a per machine basis.
Last Febuary Betfair updated their security and dropped support for TLS1.0, TLS1.1 etc this prevented anyone using XP and Vista accessing the API as they were unable to update to TLS1.2 due to it not being supported by XP and Vista.
This latest security update at the start of the week dropped support for specific TLS ciphers requiring win7 users to fully update to use the latest IE11.
As MS will no longer be updating Win7 any further (including security patches) the next major Betfair security update will almost certainly spell the end for Win7 users, so before that happens i'd advise anyone still using Win7 especially as there main PC/laptop to upgrade to Win10 as soon as possible.
