Hi any advice welcomed

I work long hours and trading time is limited but there is a definite downturn in my day to day job which will allow me to be home earlier for the evening meetings come

When I trade I check the race conditions I pay attention to the relative pre race info and make a trade entry point inwards if 7 minutes variable

I have often been correct for 3-4 ticks in the right direction say taking 30 seconds to a minute to reach a 4 tick profit sometimes I manage my green zone and sometimes before I have chance to say what happened there it just goes right through me in the blink of an eye 10 -20 tick loss

I have found the evening trading incredibly infuriating i'm at a loss to say what im doing wrong am I looking for to big a move or missing obvious signs the market direction was about to change

Before anybody suggestsdo the opposite I have tried that and find I seem to be on the wrong side whichever

Any suggestions please

You are not doing anything wrong per se.

Evening markets trade differently from day time markets and at this time of the year, it will be more pronounced as well.

I'd wait until 5 mins out before you consider opening a position. In terms of an entry, try and wait for something obvious i.e. 2 horses pushing 1 out or an obvious steamer/drifter etc.

It's been said before and it will be said again; you need to focus on getting as much screentime as possible. There are no short cuts sadly.

Record your trades using a screen recorder and play them back - you'll learn a lot from them,

I agree, evening racing is very different from afternoon racing so should be treated and treated differently!

Have you thought about if you could spot the move against you before it happened, you could jump on the other side and make a sexy 15 to 20 tick profit!

I constantly think about it and so do all the other people who keep doing their fruit on here
asking people in a pre race trading forum if they have thought about ever being successful comes across more smug then helpful its kind of like
oh yeah all I have to do is make more ticks then I lose its not like we have not had the thought its just a lot harder to do then it is to type

if you have made it to the point you make a living with your trading then you also have earned the right to be smug about it as trading is clearly a art form based upon the individuals ability to apply a set of rules to varying circumstances and come out on top

cheers

Sorry I reread your post, I didn't mean to sound smug.
