Terrible & at the worst possible time - i hope you and all your loved ones are ok!Kai wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 12:31 pmOuch. Wish Covid19 was the only thing we have to worry about right now, our capital just got hit with a 5.3 magnitude earthquake, biggest one in 140 years. Luckily there weren't many people on the street so no casualties so far, apart from a child that had to be reanimated. Plenty of material damage around, especially with the cars, the very last thing people need right now, and we have 1 day to clean eveything up before heavy snow starts falling over the next week.

BBC reporting 1 casualty. So thats good (except for him and his social circle). Bits falling of buildings and crushed cars can be rectified.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 3:22 pmTerrible & at the worst possible time - i hope you and all your loved ones are ok!Kai wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 12:31 pmOuch. In the UK a significant proportion of the population appear to be oblivious to CV or flagrantly flouting the govt advice. These people are basically murderers. With so much selfless effort (eg nhs and supermarket workers) the selfishness of others beggars belief.

The picture of that Tesco in Dudley has broken me. I mean I get people need food & they have to go to the supermarkets to get it (not entirely true) but they're literally in each others pockets, how god damn stupid do you need to be.greenmark wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 3:37 pmBBC reporting 1 casualty. There is a local company near me that usually delivers its produce to pubs & restaurants (obviously that's now not happening) so they decided to advertise their produce to the public, available for home delivery, keeping the business afloat and their workers in a job. My next door neighbour is one of there drives & he said they have 700 deliveries on Monday - great initiative like this seems rare... instead people focus on doing there best at causing chaos.

Look at the figures. The nhs has limited capacity. People need respirators/icu care to survive. It really is murder to willingly ignore govt advice because you don't perceive yourself as being someone that end up needing those resources.

I completely accept all of that, at the end of the day people are selfish and / or don't believe it will happen to them or anyone they know but murder is a little bit strong. For me its not as bad as standing close to someone when they're puffing away on a cigarette and blowing smoke into everyones face who's unlucky enough to be downwind from them. The smoker doesn't take into consideration the people around them and in most cases probably doesn't care but it doesnt mean I can go and punch them in the face and call them a murderer for blowing smoke in my direction.greenmark wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 4:49 pmLook at the figures. Blow smoke in the face of a vulnerable person (and none of use know who they are at face value) and they won't die. Spray a vulnerable person with your unwittingly virus-ridden breath and you could quite possibly kill them.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 6:12 pmI completely accept all of that, at the end of the day people are selfish and / or don't believe it will happen to them or anyone they know but murder is a little bit strong. Its worth remembering too that in certain situations peoples IQ's can reset to single figures.greenmark wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 6:26 pmBlow smoke in the face of a vulnerable person (and none of use know who they are at face value) and they won't die. When I was younger I worked part time as a doorman in a nightclub and one Saturday night a small fire broke out in an upstairs office. Even with a fire alarming blaring some people refused to move until they finished their drink... after a few minutes when smoke started to come down the stairs there were still idiots who refused to budge. Eventually when the place was cleared and the fire brigade had put the fire out there was a group of people kicking the doors outside because they didn't want to wait or come back the next day to get their jackets.
Stupidity can be contagious in situations like this and I think it goes some way to explain why people can be muppets when their asked to do a very simple thing like social distancing. Here's a prime example from yesterday:

Well, that's massively depressing. Then again this forum is the direct opposite of such stupidity, so there are lagoons of sanity out there.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 6:44 pmIts worth remembering too that in certain situations peoples IQ's can reset to single figures.greenmark wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 6:26 pmBlow smoke in the face of a vulnerable person (and none of use know who they are at face value) and they won't die. McDonald's closing at face value can seem as a good thing, maybe it will promote some healthy eating, I'm sure many people will make a joke of it somehow... when you take a layer off of the face value then this is a massive deal, they're pretty much a Global franchise, employing many more people than I dont want to know. Imagine carrying a liability of someone claiming they contracted the virus at one of their franchises.. that in mind where does that leave supermarkets, they're just as vulnerable, the Goverment somehow needs to protect them from such claims or we may end up biting that hand that feeds us.
I don't think there is any realistic chance of successfully suing for passing on a cold.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 10:30 pmMcDonald's closing at face value can seem as a good thing, maybe it will promote some healthy eating, I'm sure many people will make a joke of it somehow... when you take a layer off of the face value then this is a massive deal, they're pretty much a Global franchise, employing many more people than I dont want to know.
