I hope they give a bit of notice so we can spend our tokens. I pencilled in Goulburn tomorrow and Rosehill on Saturday but may as well trade both meetings tomorrow. Rosehill's scheduled for Wednesday the following week with Randwick on Saturday. Don't think there's any chance of getting there.

No news Shaun about the dogs, I guess more will be known later today in Oz once the various industries have chance to work out a plan after Sunday's announcements.

Australia seem to be where we in the UK were about a week or two ago so I only expect things to ramp up in Oz in the coming week or so.

It will be a real shame to lose the Oz markets on the horses but fully understandable if a ban is brought in.

Racing still has the green light to continue in all states, it will literally be the last 'non essential' service to be shut down. This may well change in a day or two but if the respective governments can find a way to keep their last major revenue train chugging along, rest assured they will. It would have to be a federal directive to shut it down Australia wide and our PM has shown he's reluctant to do anything of substance so I think we will see it continue for the foreseeable future.

Both NSW and Victoria have stated they are pushing ahead. The most recent restrictions have only just been implemented, I'd imagine they would want to see a few days data before considering further measures so I think the rest of the week at least is safe.

Looks like the Australian racing scene will be coming to an end sooner rather than later after Sunday's announcements by the government. Announcements are due from Racing Victoria and Racing New South Wales due to make announcements on Monday.
Have you heard any news about aus dogs? From what I've seen they're as well (aka badly) attended as UK dogs so might be ok? And I'm assuming the industry funds these almost empty venues so a few bums on seats wouldn't be missed if it was behind closed doors?
NSW dogs restricted to 10 strategically spaced venues throughout the state with increased prizemoney and lockdown environment. Dogs can only race at their regional venue. Wentworth park not one of them though. Possibly rotating venues over time. Pressure will force similar scenarios in each state over coming week or so but would expect only Vic/NSW have ability to continue much longer...

Vorogue18, your username brought back memories of the untimely passing of the great Vic Rail from Hendra Virus. Another virus carried by bats ☹️

Watched a doc on him recently...yeah that was a bat virus wasn't it? The mighty Vo got me hooked into racing as a teenager...almost every password I've ever had is connected to the champ!!

Vo was one of my favourites too. The very first race meeting I attended in person was the in 1991 and Vo Rogue and Rough Habit clashed in the Sir Byrne Hart at Eagle Farm. Vo was past his best by then but Rough Habit was just starting to develop his cult following in QLD and I still remember the atmosphere to this day (I was 9 at the time). The old champ taking on the Kiwi invader, you literally couldn't move in the betting ring, it was insane. Now if you go to Eagle Farm you'd be one of only a handful on track. So sad to see the decline over the years.

Its for the virus and they arent racing at NSW harness for 3 days. They have also abanoned the Vic harness because of safety concerns due to the virus.

Coffs Harbour was due to the state of the track.

NSW harness is on hold for 3 days until a steward who has been in contact with a confirmed case of Covid19 has been tested and cleared. Victoria harness is on hold too because one of their participants was at the affected Penrith (NSW) meeting.

All other states have harness racing as usual, thoroughbreds and greyhounds continue unaffected.
