Are the prices fixed or can Tiger Roll get backed from 5/1 down to 3/1, even though it's got a fixed probability of winning?

I can understand why you say that. I take the view we're big enough and ugly enough to decide if we participate or not....
I did a re-run of the Grand National and sorted the info on the old Van Der Wheil (VDW) ratings, top 5.
As others have said, any profits made by the bookmakers on the race are donated, so I went across to the Betfair Sportbook for the first time in ages to see what's occurring.
Here's my donation;

Here's the official NHS donation page info.

Maybe someone out there already knows the result.....
I do wonder if something like this can be done without the result being known, there is an exciting area of computer science called secure multi party computation. The basic premise is the ability for two or more parties with sensitive data to compute some function without having to reveal their data. For example two people wanting to know who earns more without revealing their salary or wanting to control a satellite without revealing your position.

How this would work with sports I have no idea but maybe...

It appears the bookies are all offering the same odds except for Top Ville Ben, which may be an error on the Oddschecker site. I've calculated an overround 142% approx.
From the Daily Mail:
From the Daily Mail:
They say 'profits' go to the NHS but there's no detail as to whether they're referring to gross profits or what's left after deducting administrative costs, which could be next to nothing. And what if Tiger Roll gets backed into a loser for the bookies?'Information about the horses is fed into the software, which helps to determine the probability of their potential finishing positions,' Steve Rogers, Chief Commercial Officer for Virtual Sports at Inspired, said.
'This probability is based on their past form and performance in other races. Layered on top of this, an element of Artificial Intelligence is involved in how the horses move around the course, how they jump fences and how they interact with each other.
'Then, as always with the Grand National, there is an element of unpredictability, which makes it so fascinating.'
The Virtual Grand National is pre-recorded and will be shown on ITV on Saturday at 5pm.

What a joke!
https://www.express.co.uk/sport/horsera ... Tiger-RollThe odds on all 40 runners were released on Wednesday and remained the same across the board, allowing those having a bet piece of mind that the result had not been leaked beforehand. []
However there was a word of warning from AmericanGambler.com early on Saturday that if Tiger Roll was to win the NHS would gain ‘next to nothing’ from the race due to the high volume of bets on the favourite.
...
“However, with Tiger Roll being such a strong favourite, one can only hope that the people behind the algorithm have decided on an outsider to win, like Double Shuffle at 100/1, as otherwise, NHS Charities Together are likely to receive next to nothing, which would be a heart breaking outcome for such a great initiative and cause.”
But the victory for Potters corner will mean a significant contribution to the health service.
Is it okay to break the law and fix results if it's for charity?

In my view, they should do the race every year for a recognised charity. (some may say replace the real one altogether)
The team behind the software are quite interesting.
Launched in 2002 with a start up of 10 people, acquired Virtual Sports, a graphics specialists and intergrated with core software to launch a virtual sports platform, but are also responsible for those pesky server based gaming machines.
A.I. is a way of getting an edge in sports betting, horses, footy, greys, NFL...etc..
Was the virtual race result fixed for the betterment of the NHS? I'd say no to that one.
