I'm at the point where I'm microwaving the Deep Dish pizza stockpile, setting the microwave to 3 mins, running to the toilet, remembering to close the lid, doing a 20 second sing along to try & beat the 3 min pizza time.... I've got a new high score of 13 seconds.

A good summary of the debt situation: -

https://www.collaborativefund.com/blog/ ... -for-this/
On January 16, 2020, the St. Louis Fed discontinued the series entitled "Adjusted Monetary Base." This (https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?id=BOGMBASE) appears to be the replacement -not sure if this is as meaningful or not but the chart is a bit similar to the pandemic ones I see ;) . I keep reading/listening to market commentators who do seem to know a bit (track record) about global macroeconomic trends, saying that due to the huge increase in printing money which is now really likely to continue unabated, massive debt ratios, low interest rates and Covid-19 of course, we are headed for a 3-20 year(depending on who you are listening to-but one chap recently predicted Oil going negative) financial Armageddon. I have also heard main stream media talking about the U.S and China doing some financial sabre rattling possibly leading to conflict which would be like dumping all that low priced oil surplus onto a already-burning-quite-well-fire. :(
I am thinking(as per the beginning of this thread)about Gold..I have heard figures of 20k per ounce being bandied about :o I recall, years ago, being interested in Bitcoin at $400 and was warned off by a very smart  friend of mine (banking hacker type genius dude) who told me it would be superseded by something else. I recall thinking about punching him in his genius head when it went to $17k a few years later  . If anyone here with better financial understanding than me (more than a few I suspect) has some thoughts on the gold or even silver price please feel free to offer no strings 8-) comment. Thanks

I'm still trying to catch up on all the tasks I've been putting off and still haven't had time to cook a proper meal. My advice is to cook something decent or at the very least, put that deep dish pizza in the oven. :)

Anyone remember Brexit? ;) This crisis just highlights BJ's sheer stupidity in passing into law a Brexit deadline, come what may.
So are you saying it's stupid to pass any deadline into law because you never know if something/anything could happen to make the deadline difficult?

I'm partially asthmatic, but my youngest is 12 years old - if they send him back to school they basically put me at risk immediately.
"They" do not send your kids back to school, you do. The problem with society is when we think in terms of "they" that means we are happy not to be in control of our own choices.

Just look at all the protests going on around the world, protesting for "them" to lift the lockdown restrictions... who are "they" & why am I being told by "them" - it's a very difficult situation to be in but ultimately you have to make the decision that best fits your situation & health... fuck "them" & their decision.
Fair point James, we do get trained how to respond to orders....
more so and more so as the years have passed, each generation is brought up to have more done for them and more decisions taken for them … why fear the arrival of the robots when people are becoming the robots!

There comes a point in all of this where you wonder if your best chance of survival is to just get the virus and take your chances, if I'm about to stick a leaflet in the microwave instead of the bin then I think that point has come for me. 🤣

I haven't got round to doing any tasks... what happened is, my Mrs started to do our bedroom & when I went to help she told me not to interfere, because it's her project, so she has now started the bedroom, the bathroom, the kitchen & as of yesterday she is planning to now start the living room... it doesn't take a scientist to realise for each one she starts another fails to be finished but I'd be a dead man walking if I interfere. I'll just have to pick up on it when she tells me i never do anything around the house.

I'm saying it's stupid having any deadline with no purpose to it. Deadlines are usually something you give to other people for contractual reasons with potential punishment for failing to adhere to it. Only a complete idiot imposes deadlines and punishments on themselves when you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by keeping your options open. It's a bit like a gambler self-excluding himself. Fine if you're a compulsive gambler, not so good if you're running the flipping country!

Hasnt the government already stated recently that they will not be asking for an extension/delay under any circumstances ?

I haven't heard anything about Brexit lately. I do know that the EU are offering 50% off our divorce bill in the New Year sales, but legally we're not in a position to take up the offer. ;)

Ours it still 40 and 60 higher than Italy were 14 days ago, but it took them 11 days to get theres from high 500 to below 500

The company I work for put out a letter to all employees on Monday, the whole of the night shift will be furloughed until the end of June, ALTHOUGH some of the night shift will be asked to come back to work on the day shift, WHILE some of the day shift members will be furloughed until the end of June.

My translation of that is, oi oi lads, we are hand selecting who we want to employ, some of you will be put on the scrap heap until the Goverment stop paying your wages & at that point we make you redundant.

This morning, I recieved a phone call asking me to start back work as of Monday. I lose 27% of my wages by doing so & the others lose their jobs... the group I work for employs 7000 people and at a guestimate up to or pretty close to 40% of those people will lose their jobs based on it being the axe of night shifts. I'd imagine companies up & down the country are making similar plans, judging by the "itll all be alright" attitude of large qtys of people, they're likely not to have yet come to this conclusion yet.

Thankfully for the sanity of you other forum people, you wont have to put up with my bored & random posts for too much longer.

Some people think millions will be made redundant after June or 30-45 days before that if the government doesnt extend the furlough scheme further. I cant see how the government can as its costing billions each month to do it. More likely they will just have to accept that in the short to medium term there will be around 6 million people claiming unemployment benefit or universal credit.

Yeah for sure, the issue with that is most of those people who are going to need that money will be mortgage holders or live in private rent houses. The government surely isn't going to prop that up like they do with social housing... I wonder how many of them are financing expensive cars, long term loans & are living in credit card balances. The tide going out is gonna reveal a lot of naked people.
