Hi,

I realise one tick scalping is not for everyone, however, would the following be a reasonable set of parameters to start with ?

- Only look to trade when the volume matched has increased by 5% since first/last time we looked.
- Price hasnt moved in the last 30 seconds.
- Price has only moved by 1 tick up/down in the last 60 seconds.
- Price has only moved by 2 tick up/down in the last 90 seconds.

Any advice would be appreciated.

PS. I have triggers for scratching etc.

Thanks,

Personally I'd be setting a price range for the first 4 to be trading within & would be looking to scalp in markets where there is a higher number of runners. I dont automate anything so I'm pretty useless when it comes to conditions but in general if I'm looking to scalp manually I'd want it to be a strong race like you mentioned with the hcap & I'd also be looking for good competition within the first 4 runners to add some opinion into the mix... you still want volatility, just less of it. I've noticed in smaller races in terms of runners, peoples focus on a runner becomes more refined, less choice would suggest more opinion focused on one or two runners which can lead to more volatility. Just some thoughts, not facts.

The sample size of this data is very small so it's not as accurate as it could be, it's an average of a around 100-150 races per field size and is for Hcaps, but i hope it shows what I mean about there being a sweet spot for scalping.
