Hi, I have been trading via Bet Angel for a little while now but want to attempt to automate. Being a newbie to this I am a little concerned I am have not got my bot set up correctly. I have been manually trying to trade dogs with limited success. With not much profit to be made and most of the races overnight atm , I am wanting to automate the greyhound market for the Australia races.
I am wanting to lay the 3rd favourite a minute before the off if the odds are between 4.0-7.0 and the favourite odds are 3.0 or below. Wanted to confirm two things a) Will this strategy likely to make me profit over time and b) have I set up the bot correctly. Below is how I have set up the bot

General - Lay all, rule type place a lay bet 1min out until 15 seconds before the off , trigger once 5 seconds before rearming in position 3 of favouritism
Parameters - Custom ticks below reverse market price 1, fixed stake £2.50 global settings not applicable
Conditions - This market not to go inplay. The market volume greater than £5000, Back price in order of fav 1 less than 3.0, back price in order for favouritism 3 less than 7.0 but greater than 4.8.

Any assistance if I need to amend or add criteria I would much appreciate

Just the General tab needs a little tweaking, if its only the 3rd fav you want to lay then in needs to be
place lay bet (not lay all)

If its all the runners from 3rd fav upwards (if they sit between 4.0-7.0) then you need to apply the rule to 'ANY' selection and arm it to trigger 5 times.
You'll then need to add a 'Number of place bet triggers condition' on selection is equal to 0

That will stop it triggering on the same selection more than once

Fantastic thanks for your help Dallas really appreciated . Been trying to get my head around the conditions etc . Sorry one more thing If you don't mind answering please I have amended as per your reply, I have changed on the general to trigger upto 5 times but do I need to change how many seconds before rearming I currently have 5 seconds?

james -you'll need to have the laptop (or VPS if you are using that) switched on and active.

You could do, it just means there wil be 5 secs between each bet so if 3rd, 4th and 5th fav met your odds criteria it once the first bet triggers it will take 10 more seconds for the other 2 to be placed.

Your PC/Laptop needs to be running with Bet Angel open to maintain a connection with Betfair and fetch market updates and send bets when required so make sure any sleep/hibination mode is also disabledI

If you are running automation on greyhounds and have loads of markets in Guardian you need to ensure you a refreshing them fast enough for your rules to trigger, the following post will explain how all that works

Hi all advice please. I was wondering on my filter for laying greyhounds if it can be adjusted. I would like to lay all dogs a minute out if the price is between 3.1 - 3.85 and also 4.3- 4.8 and just to trigger once overall if any dog falls within this range. Ie I don't want it to trigger twice on ie trap 1 at odds of 3.2 and 4.4. But I wasn't sure if you could have a filter with two separate price ranges.?

Capture.jpg
just create a copy of the original rule, then change the parameters for the max and min odds

Hi all after wasting loads of money on this strategy, amended many times as well still losing. Has anyone actually been able to make money either automation or manually on greyhounds. I can't waste any more on something that appears to be flogging a dead horse

Yes, quite a few people are making consistent profits from these markets. It has taken me quite a long time, there are no shortcuts. Think about why your strategy should work, test if it does - and I can not stress this enough - over a LOAD of markets. I'm automated by the way. If you're manual, I'd imagine you'd have to master very volatile (lots of gaps) order flow if you're trading cold or know something about the dogs. I know nothing, just purely numbers.

I just started work on Australian greyhounds. So I'll let you know in about four weeks where I've got to! Seven days is an incredibly small amount of time to figure out a profitable strategy.

I'm just putting orders into the market and seeing what happens at the moment. From that I'll get a pattern of activity which I will then see if / where I can sit in the market.
