Wow. No email for me yet, either.

V'Landy's is the devil incarcerate.
In the email, it said BF would call and give a warning before it would be imposed if it were tripped.

Be really interesting to see what happens to volume. Maybe something, maybe nothing, it is hard to say until the 1st rolls around.
TC markets are already quite jumpy (which makes them good to trade) so I think we will see a lot of desperate orders and it could be good for back/lay strategies despite the comm. rate.

I find its very convenient after the NRL announcement yesterday, BF trying to get one back on him and I don't blame them

how many accounts will be hitting 5999 every week from now on?

V'landys and BF made a deal for 10% commission rate (easily tied first with NSW racing as the highest rate on BF) on the NRL just yesterday.

So BF are hoping liquidity drops off a cliff on both markets

Is a way around the turnover charge to lay every other runner (other than the one you want to back) and then green by laying original runner?

I'd imagine BF would rather the revenue, rather than the revenge?

I saw an astute quote/pretend conversation the other day (political context)

Person A: I want to beat the opposition so bad.
Person B: Yeah, well, I wan to win

Very clever. You still have to pay some spread, but hopefully not 2.4%

It is a clever plan..until too many do it..I think..but this all hurts me head. Will be interesting to watch for a liquidity drop and conversely a rise on other markets. It seems harder and harder to make a buck on BF these days. The whole IP debacle in Aus is a bloody travesty as well....I'll end up in rant corner

I'd imagine BF will make more now than they have been as they don't have to pay the race fields fee (mostly from traders) to RNSW who in turn will lose all that money, guess they're hoping V'landys will see his profit diminish and thus fall into line with other states, but we know he won't do that as he's one stubborn pr1ck

Betfair updating its rules for NSW on 1 June - https://www.betfair.com.au/hub/turnover-charge/
Thanks, looks like we're completely buggered. I've pencilled in Canterbury, Bathurst and a grand finale at Rosehill.

I started off trading by laying the field (UK markets), typically to 101% or 102% and that wouldn't incur turnover charge. Although I did it successfully it's not something I'd want to go back to. It's a bit like scalping in that a big steamer or drifter can be quite costly, not to mention non-runners with questionable reduction factors!

Laying every other runner would amount to the same thing and you would have to throw away ticks with the ones that don't get matched.
