I actually placed a bet after the api went bonkers. Money taken from account but the matched bet did not appear at any time b4 the crash on either on my acc or BA. There were several minutes of crazy activity b4 the site went down completely.

Maybe I am wrong In the past I thought they cancelled all matched bets to the point where the exchange does not operate properly?

Whats annoying is that i had the opportunity to hedge on BDQ but I made an assumption the order would be cancelled. :(
I had what I thought was an £8-odd win, only to be settled with the winner having been laid, even though this wasn't on my screen when it was suspended... Very suspicious. Cost me around £37 overall, which while small beer to many, (and other have been hit much harder I know), is the majority of my typical day's winnings. Not amused.

CS
My software and Betfair screen appeared as a free bet on the fav. It's only when gutuami told me to look at my matched bets page that I realised an additional lay had been matched, which didn't show with the API down. Not that I could have done anything about it but it's important to know if you want to trade out with a different exchange.

Sorry to hear that. Was it API/BSP abnormalities?

Unable to place/cancel orders - MAJOR OUTAGE!
Betfair won't refund my bets which were placed in error because they claim the crash occurred at 13:25 a full 5 minutes after Derek's post :x
It seems this thread must be the most reliable public source for API crashes. I know they often fall asleep at Betfair control centre but I find it hard to believe their IT department has no API status logs!

Its saved me from opening positions moments ahead of a crash many many time, and enabled me to exit them just as many times before it failed

is there an option to update the thread automatically without having to refresh? I have the thread in the background but always forget to refresh it

If you bookmark the thread you can get instant email alerts when someone posts, thats what saved me on numerous occasions
