I've had some issues lately where I might add an automation file to the days racing in Guardian, and then I decide to change a variable for some reason, but the old rules carry through to subsequent races, sometimes only.

What's the best protocol for ensuring that the new rules are appended to subsequent races?

Alternatively, at what point does BA reach for the rules to apply?

when you update a rule in guardian and then save it, that becomes the current rule. I f you have a lots of markets in guardian with the same rule name they should all be updated automaically.

Thanks. That hasnt been the case all the time I think.

I often change the rules through Notepad (changing a $ value, for example). Is the process different in that case?

Yes that's different. Editing outside of the Rules Editor is done at your own risk. If you do, you'll need to re-open in the file in the editor and save it to force Guardian to use the amended version. You may even need to us the 'import' facility to force the editor to re-read the file from the disk after you've edited it. There's a lot of caching in Bet Angel to improve performance, so we don't read the rule file from the disk unless we have to.
