Over the past 12 months or so, I've had my bookmaker accounts closed down by just about all the bookies.

Therefore, unless I can make a living from trading soon, I'm going to start betting in shops.

To do this, I need to access software that's on my home PC, so I'm after a mobile that would allow me to do that.

I'm not after anything 'all singing, all dancing' - something that simply does the job will be fine!

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I use a facility called RDC (Remote Desktop Connection), part of the windows operating system
I then downloaded a free app to my iphone and bobs your uncle! you will need to know your systems Ip address and create a password etc

Is the iphone the most cost effective option?

Someone in this thread recommended the Three network, as they do genuinely unlimited broadband. I'd only be interested in unlimited broadband, as I don't want to open my bill at the beginning of the month and find I've incurred download charges! It's bad enough when I get that from Betfair! Do any other providers offer that facility? [Update: I've done a bit of digging, and it appears they are: http://cow.neondragon.net/index.php/how ... e-internet)

Without wanting to kick off the whole debate again Jeff you can also do the same on Android phones (RDC into your PC) so just look into what will be cheapest option.

For what it's worth, I have an Iphone,( Not the 4) on Vodafone (my personal one) and an old Nokia E51 (also on Vodafone, for work)

The reception on the Iphone is rubbish compared with the nokia. There are many times when I cant use the iphone but the Nokia is fine

I can't decide, last week I was gonna get an iphone then a mate told me the HTC was much faster so I changed my mind. This morning was talking to a tech guy in a shop (that sold both phones) and he said the iphone is head and shoulders the better phone.... arrgghh!

Only just ordered my phone (HTC Desire HD) so it should be here on Tuesday. I wanted to see it before I ordered it. Won't be able to compare it to the Iphone but will give you my views some point in the week when I have had time to play with it.

The HTC has a built in radio which is something I wanted and also the ability to tether the device were key factors.

In fairness the tech guy did say the HTC Desire HD was a good phone but he preferred the iphone. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the HTC, thanks for the offer; tethering, speed and reliability being my key factors.

I got a HTC Desire HD the other week and tethering is good and easy to setup i used it the other day when my Broadband went down to close up my trades etc

Once you have set up the connection the first time it's as quick as connectimg to any wireless network (assuming you have your 3G connetion already on)

As dave already said you are basically setting up wifi hotspot on your phone. so it no different from connecting to a wireless connection.

Does anyone know how much bandwidth Remote Desktop Connection uses, as I need to select a phone tariff with a suitable download limit.
