After sitting in the same, cheap office chair for two years, it's finally time to get a new one. I've looked online at what is best for long hours but most of the sites are just affiliate sites recommending the most expensive/biggest commission chairs!
Anyone have any recommendations as to what is best. Cost, not an issue, rather top quality.

Time for a new chair...
I've been sitting on the same cheap office chair for about five years. As long as it supports your bum, back, arms and swivels you can't go wrong. The one I had before that had a base arm that snapped while I was sitting on it and left me face-down on the floor.

Something squishy. I switched to a chair that's allegedly better for you and more comfortable and it's horrible. It just makes your bum go numb and the spring is too stiff to rock around easily. Soon had the old one back out and it felt being in a Jag vs being in a Go-kart.

I've been through this process.
After trawling through the usual retailers I found they were all useless selling nothing but cheap tat and with very minimal ranges to actually try before you buy.
I found the best places were specialist 'bad back' retailers. Some of them have showrooms with a decent range of chairs to try plus some expert guidance on seating positions, table heights etc best for your height and activities. The best place I found was https://www.backinaction.co.uk/ who have four showrooms in London area and Bristol. If you are anywhere near, the Amersham branch was really good. No doubt there will be other similar specialists dotted across the country.
Be prepared to pay £500+. I ended up with a Hag Sofi Mesh 7500 which was expensive but so worth it if you are sitting on your arse at a screen all day. Probably no coincidence that the lumber pains I had been suffering with for several years disappeared within months of moving to this chair.

This was the reason I bought my current chair, Rocked back, then... SNAP! Ended up on the other side of the room with what was left of the chair under the desk!

I think you nailed it! My back, posture etc isn't really an issue... Or at least isn't yet! I just get a numb ass!

If it's just the numb bum thing then my suggestion is probably not so useful for you. These chairs are more about managing your posture and keeping your core moving than being super-soft and comfortable.
It took me about a week to get a new chair, during which time I was still using the broken chair, trying to keep my weight on the side that wasn't broken.
