Today's Horse Racing
There was a fairly big backer in the market yesterday, i noticed 8k bets multiple times, i haven't watched it back yet but whoever it was, they were taking out multiple prices, not just waiting to be matched, the moves "may" have been sharper because of the crossmatching like mentioned, but also crossmatching when unmatched volume is lesser or weaker than normal could be a reason for the sharpness of the spikes. The more unmatched money in the market there is the better the spike is absorbed sort of thing... just a theory, i have no idea if that's factual.

What's stood out to me was the timing. It mostly seemed to happen between 4 and 4:30 minutes from post time. I had to completely adjust how I traded the markets, I didn't trade at all between 4 & 5 minutes from post.
I wonder how much of it we'll see today.

Fighter Pilot got it in the first, didn't not the time, did you?Trader Pat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 11:52 amWhat's stood out to me was the timing. I watched back a few of yesterday's and i think from the 1st race onwards we had an angry backer, ill post up what I noted down.
Yesterdays Racing Notes (Watched Back)

When I first started to pay attention to the market it appeared to me that, the then Fav Pelekai was likely to recieve
the attention of backers. Bumble Beee was trading at the top it's range (10 mins), Wrea Green was close to the top of it's
range and both of these looked likely to me as contenders for Lay attention, firstly Bumble Bee was just under the 4.0
crossover and Wrea Green just above the 6.0 crossover. The only other horse that I noticed had recieved backing was
Country Charm at bigger prices.
The activity on Pelekai from 10 mins down to 4 & 1/2 mins is interesting, there is someone backing with stakes of around
1k in size, 3 to 4 times the size of unmatched volume around at the near prices, however, there is someone also
willing to take this person on & quickly snaps up the backers 1k stakes, doing this from my rough count 3 to 4 times.
Whoever the backer was now has at least 3k in the market that at some point they will need to get back out. As the clock
runs further down the price is gradually drifting further and further towards 4.0 and this backer was originally in as
low as 3.45 if not lower. At around 4 mins and 24 seconds to post the volume waiting in the market is relatively thin on
Pelekai, the price is at 3.85 and from the recording I can see upto 4.3 on the ladder, there isn't 3k
in unmatched volume for the backer to get out, i think at this point the backer decides to hedge, sending the price on
Pelekai flying out and the price on Wrea Green crashing in.
Sorry if it's messed u, it's a copy and paste from notepad... I think someone got on a losing train from the very first race, interesting to get others perspective on it.

No didn't get the exact time, I'll have to take better notes!

As the day went on it seemed to get more random. Wasn't just big backs on the fav but big lays as well. Some races had 3-4 runners that it happened on lays and backs and in other races it would be 2 runners further down the book.
It looked like a bookmaker trying to lay off liability on the exchange but the timing so far from post seemed a little odd.

First of the day in the 1.00 at Nottingham. Easier to see it on the overview.

A BF forum poster who has a history of claiming to move prices pre-race claims it was the betfair bot. Strangely I've also noticed in the last 2-3 weeks exact (and unusual-sized) amounts that I've laid trading again seconds later after it's moved against me.
I know it all sounds a bit conspiracy theory, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Its happened in both races at Nottingham so far so I'm not touching the 2 o'clock until 3 minutes out.
