Been looking over some results and just wondered if anyone can identify whether these courses groupings have anything in common. Happy to share findings with anyone that can help.

(there might be nothing in common and its random pattern - data covers c12,000 UK races & 20,000 AUS races)

UK
Ayr, Fake, FfosL, Ling, Newc, Sthl, Wolv

UK
Bev, Catt, Chep, Donc, Good, Sand, Taun, Thisrk, Uttox, York

AUS
Carn, Cess, Coff, Gawl, KemG, Morp, Sand, Tamw, Wang

AUS
Cran, Graf, Hshm, Pakn, Rand, Rose, Wagg, Well, WFrm

The first list is predominantly tight tracks (with the exception of Ayr). The second list is more testing or galloping tracks with more demand for stamina (Uttoxeter and Thirsk notable exceptions). Don't know anything about Aussie courses.

4 of the first group are all weather tracks (Lingfield also has turf).
