Hamilton 1.44
O'Sullivan 8.2
Fury 9.2
Henderson 12.5
Doyle 30
Broad 280
SPOTY 2020
Think Hamilton worthy fav but wouldn't touch him at them odds...O'Sullivan seems to get nominated every year and got knocked out in 2nd round of UK Champs just recently...Fury probably the best achievement but was all the way back in Feb and will BBC let him win...Henderson was a good player with Liverpool winning the PL but surely had to do more...Doyle wouldn't be there if she wasn't female but probably looks the value...Broad no one gives a shit about cricket unless it's the ashes.

Hamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country. I just can't see how he can win. But then you look at what he's up against. Such a weak line-up. Fury was my choice and now he's pretty much taken himself out of the running.

You have got to be f***ing kidding.
The guy is brilliant.
Imagine a season with Senna, Schumacher and Hamilton.
Pick your winner from that lot.

I think it's the personality that people hate, not the undoubted racing ability.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:05 pmUniversally hated in ths country?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:01 pmHamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country. ...problem is, he's winning in the fastest car and for all the years of his career (except 2009-2013) he has been driving the fastest car, so it's not a level playing field - bit like winning a footie championship where you're allowed 12 players per match against just 11 for the opposition or your oppositions goal is a foot wider and a foot taller.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:05 pmUniversally hated in ths country?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:01 pmHamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country. If Verstappen or Ricciardo were in a Mercedes we would then see who was better - Bottas is just an average driver in the fastest car so makes Hamilton look very special. Rosberg was much more of a challenge to Hamilton. How do you think Hamilton would do if he were currently driving the Ferrari? (clue - not winning!).
In 2009 to 2013 Hamilton wasn't driving the fastest car and as such didn't win the Championship in any of those years. In 2013 Vettel won the final 9 races in a row so much better was his car. Only with the new rules did Hamilton in 2014 start to rack up the wins and Championships again after 2008. Hamilton has benefitted from #BlackPrivilege throughout his career. Hamilton is a very good driver driving by far the best car, so very hard to determine his greatness. Would he win in a Haas? No How about an AlphaTouri.? No? etc...
Every F1 fan I know hates Hamilton, they think he's a good driver but just can't stand his personality...and I agree such a weak line-up if he doesn't win this year he never will...not like he'd/anyone would be too bothered.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:05 pmUniversally hated in ths country?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:01 pmHamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country. Senna only won 3 championships but 2 of them were with Prost as a team mate. Different era when teams actually had no problem pairing top drivers together.
Schumacher like Hamilton always had a weak teammate except in 2008 when Hamilton was paired with Alonso. I'd put Schumi ahead of Hamilton because he was a better developer of a car, went to Benetton and turned the car into a WC car and did the same at Ferrari. Also Schumacher would never be beaten by a team mate unlike Hamilton who was beaten by Rosberg. Also Hamilton is enjoying a period of dominance in that Mercedes just like Vettel did in the Red Bull.
Saying Hamilton is universally disliked is a bit OTT but he does rub some people up the wrong way probably because he's constantly jumping on bandwagons and trying to push Brand Hamilton. BLM is a worthy bandwagon to jump on but before that there was always something else. To me he always came across as a bit disingenuous but fair play to him, you cant deny his achievements.
Sports Personality of the Year: Tyson Fury to remain on shortlist
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/sports-personality/55162164
World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury is to remain on this year's Sports Personality of the Year award shortlist, says the BBC.
Fury, 32, is one of six sports stars shortlisted for the annual award, which will be presented on 20 December.
On Wednesday, he posted a video on his social media accounts asking for the BBC to "please take me off your list".
But a BBC spokesperson said Fury would remain on the list because it is decided by an independent panel.
"The shortlist is decided by an independent expert panel who choose contenders based on their sporting achievement in a given year," said the BBC.
"On this basis Tyson Fury will remain on the list for Spoty 2020.
"As always the winner will be decided by the public voting during the live show and it is of course up to Tyson if he chooses to participate in the show."
Fury had said that he was "the people's champion and have no need for verification or any awards".

Every F1 fan i know loves Hamilton. He doesn't come from a background of privilege. He has found sponsors for his career by sheer talent. He has never 'bought' a seat in a car. He is one of my heroes.Naffman wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:19 pmEvery F1 fan I know hates Hamilton, they think he's a good driver but just can't stand his personality...and I agree such a weak line-up if he doesn't win this year he never will...not like he'd/anyone would be too bothered.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:05 pmUniversally hated in ths country?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:01 pmHamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country.
